Tigers vs. royals Game 134 September 4, 2022

Miggy to the IL.

Wonder if we have seen him in a tigers uniform for the last time.

The Tigers announced the following roster moves:
*Placed DH Miguel Cabrera on the 10-day IL, retroactive to 9/3, with a left biceps strain.
*Selected INF Josh Lester from Triple A Toledo.
*To make room for Lester on the 40-man roster, transferred OF Austin Meadows to the 60-day IL.
INF Jonathan Schoop began an injury rehab assignment with Single A West Michigan last night.

Tigers to call up first baseman Josh Lester.
The latest addition to Detroit?s major league roster is Lester, a 28-year-old minor league stalwart.
BYBTB

The timing of this opportunity is fantastic for Lester, whose mediocre season-long numbers are dragged down by a poor start and belie a furious hot streak he?s been on for the past two months. Since the beginning of July, he?s cut his strikeout rate nearly in half from last season and is hitting the devil out of the ball. His .279/.325/.535 line is notable in that time span even for the robust offensive environment of the league he plays in and he?s still in the slightly sub-.300 BABIP range, indicating he hasn?t been getting overly lucky.

Add to that his 24 home runs ? fourth among active players in the Triple-A International League and tied for 37th among all minor leagues everywhere ? and it?s clear that Lester has conquered MiLB pitching. The problem, is that he hasn?t conquered it in ways that predict major league success.

Jimenez leaves a bases loaded mess for Chafin to clean up and he gets out of the inning.

Still tied up at 2 apiece to the bottom of the 7th.

The Tigers have DFAed Michael Pineda.
Reliever Luis Castillo called up from Toledo.
Tigers will take a look at younger starters down the stretch.

Soto gives up another earned run in the 8th. Over his last 15 games Soto has an ERA of 6.43 giving up 10 earned runs in 14.0 IP.

The DET BP was really terrific all season, however in AUG they were:
1-9
5.27 ERA 27/30
258 BAA 25/30
1.43 WHIP 24/30
63.5% strand rate 28/30
in other words..not good

2022 Detroit Tigers Highlights:
1. Miggy joining the 3,000 hit club.
2. Al Avila getting fired.
3. The season ending.

Royals 3 - Tigers 2: Royals break tie late, Tigers can?t respond.
Matt Manning wasn?t at his best, but it was the bullpen and repeated failures at the plate that blew it in the end.

Another short outing for Matt Manning as Tigers come up short in the finale with Royals.

Closer Gregory Soto can't lock down K.C. Royals in 3-2 loss for Detroit Tigers.

Honestly I think he may very well be done, he may want to come back next year but if that bicep is going to be an issue again that?s all she wrote

He could come back play a game then retire.

I like seeing him in the lineup. His money and heath is a minor issue. Considering Baez didn't have a good year, offensively or defensively - a SP who was gone for awhile amidst marital troubles and an OF who had a mental breakdown. Something seriously wrong with this org.

Just because you're not a fan doesn't mean others aren't. Miggy is still a big draw.

I really doubt he is a big draw. He played in 1/2 of the games in this past home stand. The team averaged about 14.5K fans per game during that home stand. In the games he played, they averaged about 13.8K fans.

Because the team stinks. But I bet they go to see him more than anyone else on this team.

and he is the worst player on the entire team over the past +- 40 days.

I would bet that most people that are still going to games are die hard Tiger fans. They are likely the kind of fan that is going to see some of the young players, like Greene.

It's hard to guess why people are going to the games. I question the intelligence of anybody that goes to a Tiger game right now. I wouldn't go if the tickets and beer were both free.
