Jim Leyland hadn’t received any follow-up report on Omar Infante when he filled out his lineup card this morning, but he figured a day out of the lineup ahead of Monday’s off-day might be worthwhile to make sure Infante’s back issues don’t linger. Infante left Saturday’s game with lower back stiffness.
Bruce Chen has a serious case of reverse splits going on so far this season. Left-handed hitters are batting .270 (24-for-89) off Chen, compared to a .177 average (31-for-175, 38 strikeouts) for right-handed batters. For his career, the reverse splits amount to a 26-point difference in batting average. Andy Dirks follows those trends, batting 5-for-14 against Chen. He gets the start in left field over Matt Tuiasosopo, who has never faced Chen.

holy miggy!!!!!! he is just way too good! it is almost unfair to the other players that have to pitch against him

Holy shit, I actually feel sorry for fans of other teams that have to root against miggy.

Un fuqn Believable!

4 dingers behind davis. Where was at this time last year? I know he wasn't in the lead yet if I recall l. I don't even think he was in the top 3.

It's to the point that if I missed a game and just saw the box score...... and saw Cabrera went 5-5 with 5 hr......I wouldn't be shocked at all.

Pujols needs to give up his "the machine" nickname.....Cabrera owns that now.

I'd be surprised if Cabrera gets anything to hit the rest of this ballgame. If Yost lets Chen throw strikes to Miggy again, then he's an idiot.

That was home run 361 of Cabrera's major league career, tying him with Joe DiMaggio for 77th on the all-time list.

I keep saying that all the time and thankfully people keep pitching to him. When the pitcher fell behind 3-1 I thought for sure they walk him and then Lamont has to yank him out of the game. But they threw him a strike. The good news is that we play a lot of teams who are out of the playoff race to finish the season, so they will probably keep pitching to him a few times per game.

Before Miggy's 1st inning Bomb, four of Cabrera's last seven home runs had come in the eighth inning or later in close games.
Nine of his last 10 homers have either tied the game or put Detroit ahead. Now 10 of last 11.
