Angles beat the Rockies 25-1 tonight. It. Would take the tigers 7-to 10 games to score that many runs. We did have a good stretch recently so maybe a tad less.

They got smoked. By the 3 inning I think everyone had a hit and most of them 2. They had 2 guys who went 5 for 5.

Angels move back into a tie for the third wild card spot with the cheating cheaters Astros, who came from ahead to be vanquished in vengeance by the Dodgers.

With a half season or so left, the Tigers are not out of position in the remarkably weak AL Central.

Even after they added Ohtani the Angels are barely playoff bound. They say he might leave after the season, Trout should have left years ago. Too much talent to not at least compete for a title. Only 1 playoff appearance, back in 2014. Didn't even win a game.

Well, regardless of what did or didn?t happen before, this season is its own season.

And it?s the first time a Trout/Otahni led Angels has been in contention.

Not that I care that much.

That four and a half game deficit the Tigers face in the AL central?

That don?t seem that insurmountable.

The LAA, BTW stupid name, aren't competing with anyone at seasons end.

DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

There is just over a little more than a month until the trade deadline on August 1st.

During the month of July, the Tigers are expecting the return of multiple starting pitchers. Some have been out for a short time while others have not pitched in a year or longer.

Currently, the Tigers are 5.5 games out of 1st place and 10 games under .500 (through Friday?s games). The AL Central is baseball?s worst division and even the team currently in 1st place is only 1 game over .500. The division title is almost any team?s for the taking.

It is expected that Scott Harris will not make a decision about trading any players until closer to the deadline and the Tiger?s potential for the rest of the year is more clear.

Detroit has 3 starting pitchers who may be gone after this year. Eduardo Rodriguez has an opt-out and he is widely expected to do so if his injured finger allows a return to normal. There are multiple rumors of teams interested in him.

Matthew Boyd and Michael Lorenzen are both on 1- year contracts.

If Eduardo opts out and both Boyd and Lorenzen?s contracts expire, the Tigers will get nothing in return for them. This is crucial for the team to consider given their rebuilding and lack of depth.

Scott Harris could attempt to trade them and acquire roster-ready players, depth and/or prospects in return.

If Detroit does this, there is no guarantee that the returning IL pitchers will have a smooth transition. There would be 2 months left in the season for the trades and returns to the roster to play out.

Last year, the Tigers used 17 different starting pitchers to get through the year. This year, 12 so far.

If you were Scott Harris, what would you do? Trade them and potentially weaken your starting rotation for the last 1/3rd of the season or look towards the future by adding new talent?

Today?s blog addresses this dilemma and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!

For this one blog only, you?ve got 6 sentences max to share your thoughts. Of course, you can respond to as many other readers as you want.

TT will supply the ammunition. One thought-provoking question. Several options provided. One hard choice to be selected. One vote.
Ready?

Should Scott Harris trade Rodriguez, Boyd and Lorenzen?

1. Yes

2. No
