Some tidbits before practice officially starts:

Roster weights:
Fairley @ 308
Whitehead @ 242 up from 228 last year
Van Noy @ 252 up from 243
Ebron @ 265 up from 250 at the combine.

Ebron at 265 might not be a good thing...he only ran a 4.6 sec. 40 at 250 lbs.

That is what I thought too. We'll see how much it affects him. I don't expect these weights to stay long anyway.

Kickers and special teams on the field first.

Knew that Fairley @ 290 was bs.

In a press conference yesterday, Caldwell said they have a weight range for all the guys. Fairley weighing in at 290 was out of range, needed to put some weight back. From the sounds of it, it's muscle not belly rolls.

Slay with a couple pass breakups

Van Noy sitting out of team drills with a taped up hand.(He went to the lockerroom for a bit, then came back).
*Edit* Van Noy said he expects to practice tomorrow.

Didn't watch the whole video, looks like the same team. 1 on 1 drills DBs got beat regularly. Saw an under throw, a number behind and a drop.

Full team drills seems like a lot of dump offs. Obviously can't draw many conclusions from practice, but nothing stood out and was exciting.

so pretty much a crappy secondary and a bunch of offensive weapons that cant make plays. Weird...who woulda thunk it...

Yeah.... Watched the whole video and looks pretty same old same old.... Secondary made a few plays but constantly got beat..... Bentley and Mathis looked like garbo. Slay looked decent. RB's were catching well. Didn't notice much of Ebron. And on one slant rout around 7:15 Stafford over throws and leads the open guy to far.

Is it surprising that the secondary is likely going to suck in the regular season? Other than Slay getting older (don't even know why that equates to immediate success), they didn't do anything to address it.

Ihedigbo limits mistakes compared to Delmas
Slay older and better fit in scheme
Quin healhtier (ankle)
Quin is his more natural free safety (coverage)
Designating strong and free safety
Scheme change with more press and blitz
Healthy number 1 CB now (Houston gone)
New secondary coaches and DC.
Cassius Vaughn
Nevis Lawson
Maybe more use from Greenwood (only 2 games last year)

Plenty of changes.

Plus they were average in most categories last year. They didn't get the guy YOU wanted. Too bad for you. Still good for the Lions.

Quin, Mathis, Slay, Bentley didn't need changing.

who exactly is the #1 CB?

Average in most of your made up categories but there is no denying that the Lions pass defense was towards the bottom of the league. I don't expect that to change this year.
