Beat Michigan, Illinois, OSU in a 2 week span and were ranked 67th in the NET rankings. This shit metric is laughable and made up.

we're a bit of an anomaly with NET. it takes every point you score into consideration, so they all matter the same. We got pounded by NW and MN by about 40 combined points, then beat 3 top 5 teams. Getting beaten by bottom feeders is like getting a 0% on a test, you can get a few 100%'s but you're not going to make up for it. Not many teams that are capable of beating the best teams in the country get whooped by mediocre teams.

NET doesn't consider scoring margin. It's based on Team Value Index (rewarding teams for beating quality opponents, particularly away from home) and Efficiency (points per 100 possessions) adjusted for strength of opponent and location (home/away/neutral). Our ranking would be unchanged if we played the same games but lost to NW and MN by 1.

Edit: updated NET has us moving up 2 spots to 65, still trailing IU who is unchanged at 61. We're only 25 spots behind Penn State - seems like a pretty useful stat. With PSU at #40, I half expected to see Northwestern in the top 15.

Updated NET has us dropping 5 spots to 70, widening the gap between us and the Hoosiers who only dropped 2 spots to 63, and PSU who also only dropped two spots to 42.

We also trail Syr (40) and Utah State (39) - maybe that's why we got the play-in game behind both of them.
