Stauskus and Robinson III to enter draft

I posted that

For. Some thing I read as quoting JB on twitter let me see if I could find it

Some other quotes
@BFQuinn: GR3: "I don't think I had all the opportunities to kind of show what I can really do & that's going to be my thing to prove to (NBA teams)."
@BFQuinn: Glenn Robinson III admits having much to prove, plans on doing so in NBA http://t.co/iIlY5XpirN

@BFQuinn: GR3 asked if he felt he had little to gain w/ another year at U-M: "A little bit, yeah." Said he would improve, but can improve in the NBA.

Nik going to sign with bartelstein dad

This was jb on Mitch. I misstated about contact

@SamWebb77: Beilein on McGary: "he's working out with us... not full go but he is making excellent progress."

@umichbball: "We're leaving the program in great hands ... This program is still on the rise." - @NStauskas11 http://t.co/fPZr0DwgPG

Kind of hard to prove what you can really do when you don't bring consistent effort night in and night out.

This could be an odd question, but at what point does the NBA run out of room? The stars aren't leaving. Guys like Lebron, KD, etc... are going to have roster spots locked down for a decade. It feels like there are more college kids leaving in this era, and there can't be room for them all.

there are definitely more kids in the draft than spots available on NBA rosters. Last year there were 46 early entry cantidates. Some of the early entries that will end up over seas or in the D league and the majority of the Seniors will not make the teams. There probably aren't more (American) kids that are eligible for the draft vs. years ago becasue there just aren't as many seniors. Bottom line is if the kids think they are good enough to make an NBA roster they leave early.

There will always be room in the NBA because of busts, kids who think they are ready when they aren't even close, aging/retiring players and guys who get cut.

Caris going to have to sharpen up

He has to really be on next year

Agreed....and I think he can do it. I see the crux of the offense starting with the 2 man game of CV and MM, with Irvin setting up, and Walton either doing the same, or driving to either score or make the last good pass. I am not as educated as most of you to know how any fresh might contribute, yet.

My brother and I were speculating as to the ratio of Irvin's 3 to 2 pt FGs this past year....I'm actually afraid to look it up....yet I know he can go inside.....and hell have to.

There's no more room for freshman development, with the rate these kids are leaving. They pretty much need to come in and prove themselves right away. Chatman or Donnal might be asked to do a lot.

If you feel like banging your head against a wall check out Robinson's interview on 1050 that aired this morning. They have podcasts that you should be able to access. I don't know if I stopped shaking my head at any point in the interview.

I'm sure it's blocked at my work now. Our new internet security blocks all video and streaming audio. I may check it out once I'm home, but I don't enjoy banging my head against a wall.

It's one of those things where I almost feel bad telling you about it, but you kind of have to hear it. He touches on some points that you've been discussing for a good year plus.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to give it a listen when I have a chance tonight.

You can check twitter fir mist if Glenna comments

Look up Michigan insider, Brendan Quinn, Mark snyder

I think Glenn left partially because he didnt want to play the 4. At the same time he was going to have a hard time getting time at the 3. he is a solid player when he wants to be but at times he seems to lack the effort you would think see in a top player. It will be interesting in the NBA if he develops. It will be on him to do it for himself. I always thought he relies on his athleticism to much and never really worked on his game as much as Nik and Caris did.

Glenn will be a guy I look back in a few years and not really have any fond memories of, one way or another. Had a lot of highlight dunks, and was an important member of some good teams, but there were times when you didn't even know he was on the court.

Nik will definitely be missed, but, life goes on in college basketball, and I don't think either guy really cemented a legacy, so to speak. I think someone like Derrick Walton, who looks like he may be a 3-4 year player, might be able to create more memories than these 2 and dones.

ML quoted this from GR3 earlier in the thread:

He says he can improve in the NBA, but will he? What did he really improve on in two years at Michigan? His three point shot regressed in his second year, his RPG dropped from 5.4 to 4.4, he isn't a great ball handler or passer, and his shooting percentage dropped from 57% to 48%. Obviously he was never going to keep up the 57%, but other important numbers fell. Does he really have the self-motivation to improve enough to be successful in the NBA. We will find out. Hopefully the answer to that question is yes.

Like I've said before, the Pistons drafted Tony Mitchell (supposed athletic freak) from North Texas in the 2nd round, and he's not doing anything. There are players like GR3 scattered throughout the NBA. I wish the kid succeeds, but his game is so similar to a million other players. He doesn't do anything exceptional other than be athletic.
