as for Spock maybe he is fed up with the BS arguing of nearly near every posts a couple of posters including you question when they add something of substance.

It's like when someone doesn't like someone else they will question every goddam thing the other guy posts for the sake of arguing. I didn't know skip bayless and the other guy were posing as Tigers fans.

We've been down this road before a long time ago.

You invest your time and emotions though, which also have value. Bad financial management can cause the on-field product to suffer if all you care about is winning. I'm with you in that I don't personally care what the payroll is either, as long as the money the team spends is spent wisely. In this case, it was not.

Sure but I wouldn't "feel" better if we lost by spending less. Baseball is relaxing which is why I watch. But until "we" draft better we're not going to be the Tampa Bay Rays.

One point about the money....many people defended the hell out of the trade of Fister, saying it was salary motivated. Well if that's true then it seems pretty silly to blow that much money on 9 games, even if it's not our money being spent.

So I would say it's still relevant to be upset about the money being wasted.

I am tired of all the pointless arguing, by everyone. Its the distinction and differences between discussion and friendly arguments (which is what message boards are for) and pointless arguing up to and including baiting and trolling (which is just annoying) that is the main issue around here right now. This place would be boring as hell if noone discussed or argued at all, but whats going on around here right now is just as bad.

I wouldn't feel better either, and I don't think many fans would. That wasn't what I was saying. I don't want the Tigers to be making bad financial decisions because it hurts their chances of winning (e.g. Alex Gonzalez was a wasted roster space that didn't help the team all that much). I want them to win now, I want them to win tomorrow, I want them to win 10 years from now. Throwing money around unwisely hurts those chances.

Again I am not saying "slash the payroll!" If Illitch wants to spend 300 million dollars then go for it, but it better be spent in a manner that doesn't hurt the team's ability to win in the future.

Sidestepping the issue with needless personal attacks. This is some of the stuff thats getting ridiculous and old. Its nice to know you consider discussing an issue whiny rather than behaving like a mature adult though.

I can get on board with some of that but if we didn't sign Gonzalez we wouldn't be better off. At least I don't think so. We'd still have no one functional at shortstop.

He isn't being argued with, doesn't need to read a shit storm when a few posters post and a few others are ready to disagree with it.
