And the so-called ace Price will struggle to hold this lead
No, JV is the Ace.. in fact, I saw that ace all over the internet last night.

Seriously one bad start and Price gets slammed? He had a one-hit complete game the start before that. Good lord.

He's had one good game and looked terrible to average in every other start. His ERA is just south of 5 as a Tiger down there with JV. He's labored through his ok starts allowing tons of base runners and having to navigate through traffic all game. Smyly has already had a CG followed by two 7 inning 2-hit games. Domination! As of now Smyly is the better pitcher and improving with every start while Price is wilting under pressure. Tampa is terrible by the way so not surprising he hit one hit that scrub filled lineup

Besides his Tampa start Price also went 8 innings and gave up 1 run vs Seattle. He was awful in one start against NYY, and did fine in the other. He didn't do great against Toronto, but has looked just pretty good here today against Cleveland. All of this is besides the point. You're taking 4 or 5 starts and using them to conclude Smyly is better than Price. Seems like a reach at best. Why are you ignoring the rest of their careers?
It doesn't matter how great he was four years ago. We gave up our best young pitcher and starting CF to get an ace like pitcher instead we got an average looking 3-4 starter at best. Then you look at his atrocious post season track record and you can be sure he is gonna shit the bed when we need him most. Say what you want about Smyly but he does not choke in big situations and he was huge for us in the post season last year. His composure is one of his best attributes. So we gave up a guy who costs a half million bucks for a guy who is costing almost 20 million and he isn't even as good as the cheap guy when he's supposed to be CY Young and at least winning games for us. So far the trade doesn't look good and you can't argue that we'd have a better record with the kid pitching
