Trump wins, but...

Final numbers are in for the inauguration (could be Fake News because it was on the Twitter, but anyways ...)

Obama 2009 - 1,800,000
Obama 2013 - 1,000,000
Trump 2017 - 250,000

Obama 2009 - 1,800,000

Trump 2017 - 250,000

Various sources I'm seeing on the net are reporting around 899,940.

That's estimating around 900,000 then subtracting the 60 Congressional Democrats who boycotted.

heh. Trump's using a pic of Obama's 2009 inauguration as his twitter backdrop since there were actually people there for that, and the people there were actually happy. (except mitch)

John McCain was in the Senate, so he probably attended with everybody else.

He probably wasn't all that happy.

You must be watching the wrong thing because there's tons of people. No way he can match 8 years ago - first black President. But seeing you in your misery makes me smile.

Now you know what it was like for me 8 years ago. And 4 years ago. You'll get past it.

Most everything I've been disappointed about after elections has been of a more temporary nature. "This guy will be a step back economically, or will slow some sort of progress." I always think we'll still get there, it will just take longer.

When it comes to the environment, it's a different thing. This are going to get bad and then at some point, I believe they will get a whole lot better. A step backwards doesn't just delay progress, it makes how bad things are going to get, worse. And I do think nations will go to war over this. Some argue what's happening in Syria wouldn't be happening if not for about a decade of drought. So this is a different experience for me this time.

250,000 seems low and would be smaller than some NASCAR race crowds but then again, there were pictures of the Cavalier victory parade in Cleveland being sold as Trump rally crowds.

Weather, unpopularity and polarization all playing a role I am sure.

Rain, and 50 degree weather and big crowds would make me stat at home. Plus 2 million at the fireworks in Detroit this past summer. More than Obama. Crowd numbers mean little..

I don't normally like parades but it's rather fascinating.

I believe it's the Capitol Police who will provide the official estimate of how many were in attendance, which I don't believe has been released.

Other government agencies were projecting between 750,000 a little more than 900,000 before the event, according to the DC NBC Affiliate.

There were probably close to 250,000 protesters alone.

I'm seeing an official count referenced of 250,000... dang. That's gotta sting.

Schwarzaneggar should tweet Trump about his "low ratings."

I think more people showed up to protest than celebrate his inauguration. the victory parade looked sparse as well.

Hell of a democracy we've got ourselves...

Occupy Democrats is reporting the official count is between 700,000 to 900,000.

What is your source for your official count?

I don't see Occupy Democrats source for their official count; but I don't see any motivation at all as to why Occupy Democrats would inflate today's attendance number...

Mich is just stinging himself. Did anyone suspect there would be as many people as for a black President? Obama only at 1m his 2nd time so the difference is small.

Isn't he more a plain pale orange? Maybe an off-white orange.

I'm probably not the best judge. Every time I pick out clothes for the boys my wife tells me that they don't match, despite the fact that I swear both the shirt and pants are blue.

Dark blue, black - it's all the same to me. My eyes can't tell. And I don't know how many times my wife tells me my shirt is inside out. Or backwards. I'm basically a clod..

Sort of my point too, but similarly obvious.

Trump is entering his term as an unpopular President and to your point before, is not the same event as Obama being the first Black President.

It's not really rain or traffic concerns, it's that Trump doesn't have or encourage much sincere support ...it's more a byproduct of resentment and anti--

I thought that in the beginning but it seems like more and more of the "I'm not voting for Trump, I'm voting against Hillary" crowd have been getting increasingly more defensive and/or excited about Trump. I don't know if it was that they were embarrassed to admit they really liked Trump or they're just doubling down on 'I hate liberals', but I'm seeing it more and more in my circles.

why not both?
