Thought for sure it was gonna end after JV started that inning with 6 straight balls

Wow, crazy how you all were talking about JV's no hitter through 7 against the Angels in 2011 last night and here we are again, minus the bean ball incidents.

From 2011 following the game:

With two no-hitters to his name already, Verlander was vying to become the sixth pitcher to throw three in his career. Needless to say, Aybar?s bunt was not well received by the AL Cy Young front runner:

?I know it was only 3-0, so I can understand there are arguments on both sides, but as a pitcher, we call that bush league.?

Well damn, but hey verlander finally picked up his second win on the year though

It is really funny. A no hitter is something that is so special but he doesn't get it by 2". In terms of legacy...a one hitter is just another really good game.

That said...great outing by JV!

Damnit, 3 inches from a no hitter.

JV might be a dominant Ace again. His control was better than it's ever been through the first 7 innings.

Well, despite all of the issues with this team, Verlander has pitched pretty damn well lately. That in itself is very encouraging.
