Cameron Maybin Traded to the Tigers

Maybin has looked good so far. His ability to swipe a base is something we had really been needing. Hoping this continues at least until some of the others get back up toward their career averages.

I think we'd all be thrilled if Maybin is a missing piece but based on his career, a few games I'd like to see more.

by the end of the year Maybin will be what close to what he has been his entire career...below average. Upton will get close to his career numbers and Pelfrey will be what he is...shitty.

12 PAs is cannot yet overshadow the previous 2,623.
This is his career: 252 .314 .367 .680 ... the guy is a pop-gun.

Maybe and most likely. But I remember JD.. based on his Houston years I don't think anyone thought much of him. Kind of hard for me to not have some faith he figures it out when JD went from dud to stud.

Maybe JD can work with Maybin.

JD was 23-25 years old with Houston and only had 975 PA's. Still a pretty young, developing player. Maybin is 29 years old and has had 2613 major league PA's prior to this year. Maybin may have an outlier year but it is more likely that he is going to be what he has been his entire career.

Maybin needs to get on base by any means necessary, His BBs are unacceptable and he needs to at least double them. Based on his small sample PA size in 2016, he has demonstrated great discipline compared to his career. So maybe there is hope after all. (in contrast to my previous post @ 8:40 #107)

Occasionally, players have outliers of a season. Or even a month. Or week. Good, bad or indifferent. In J.D.'s case, he altered his swing before the start of the 2014 season at age 26. Luis Gonzalez did something similar when he left DET and went to ARZ. Aside from mechanical changes such as these, small sample sizes usually don't tell you anything.

I think Maybin kinda is what he is at this point, but he's still an upgrade over Gose. Trying to find the positives here. LOL

Like I said, he might end of being Gose 2.0. But sometimes things happened that proves in the scheme of things we don't know jack shit.

Gose was terrible.

I could be way off on this, but he has given me the impression that he's one of those players who is a great athlete who just doesn't absorb coaching like he should. I get the sense that he's got a bit of an attitude and cockiness about him that is really hurting his game.

lets all be disappointed that Maybin's had a good start and been a spark to the team.

During a spring training game, I listened to Jim and Dan say as much. Said he was having problems listening to the coaches about not playing so shallow.
