Contest: Pick the date Coke-head gets DFA'd

It's an easy question to ask: "When are you going to release Phil Coke?"

To a seasoned, fearless reporter who is not afraid of confrontation, that question is the question to begin with.

IF anyone heard the questions posed to Vogel after the latest loss, they centered around when is Hibbert going to start sitting because of his lack of production. So apparently you can ask these types of questions.

Well, it's now May 2, so my April 28 guess/wish/mandate has come and gone. I'm still ever so hopeful this happens soon. I certainly hope the Tigers brain trust isn't thinking that lukewarm relief stint Coke had against the Twinkies last Saturday has great redeeming value.

Excerpt from article about Tigers bullpen:

"One gets the sense Coke is one outing away from his release. Whenever that happens, there will be hordes of investigative journalists ready to explore the unsolved mystery of why it took so long."

Yes! Inquiring minds want to know!

I've heard that before. If he hasn't been released as of yet what's one more appearance?

im still trying to figure out if he gives up what seems to be atleast 2 runs everytime hes in the game...how the fuck he only has a 9 ERA lol

If LPK was a Tigers fan he would say Coke made good pitches but just got "unlucky" and the batters hit the ball.

5-3-2014: He got all the righties he face out tonight (3) while giving up hits to all lefties he faced also (3)

This result does not compute and may have just spawned another alternate dimension in the vastness of the multi layered universe tonight.

“There just seemed to be one pitch where he was missing with his location,” said Ausmus, who has seen just enough good pitches, and just enough outs, from Coke to believe he can be brought into a game.
“From the dugout, you see 92, 94, and he’s added a cutter, a slider,” Ausmus said. “My gut says he’ll be clearing a hurdle.
“Because we’re gonna need him.”

My gut says he'll be clearing waivers. Hopefully soon. Real soon.

Well the Tigers lost today without Coke in the game!

What if Corey Knebel was in that roster spot and could have been used? It was still Coke's fault. Lefties are hitting .368 against him this season (7 of 19). Not much of a "specialist"

By comparison - Lefties against Krol are hitting .182 (4 of 22) with one of those 4 hits being yesterday.

This logic is sound. Coke-head is taking up a valuable roster spot that could be filled by somebody, anybody, who can eat up an out in the sixth or seventh inning. Hell, even Heath Bell is available, although not sure what his contract status is. Bottom line is that "Coke is cheap" is not an effective answer to the question "why is this ineffective dirtbag still on the team".
