Detroit Lions - Team Notes

New Lions prez Rod Wood has Matthew Stafford on his fantasy team

http://espn.go.com/blog/detroit-lio...wood-has-matthew-stafford-on-his-fantasy-team

Say what you will about his draft choices in a fantasy football league, but his answers as posted here are EXACTLY what I want to hear from the new team president.

A team president is no different than the CEO of a company, and I've answered directly to a few of those guys. I know a good one from a bad one within a week of their hire.

This guy is a damned good CEO. He is saying exactly the right things. And CEO's rarely say one thing and do another. They usually, for better or worse, lay out their agenda pretty firmly up front.

Excellent hire here. I am happy.

If he has Stafford on his fantasy team that's proof hes not a good CEO.

Though the Lions are sitting near the bottom of the league at 2-7, their General Manager opening is highly appealing. The reasons: Detroit?s abundance of draft picks, positive salary cap situation, the return of injured linebacker DeAndre Levy in 2016, and the likelihood of the new GM having full autonomy over the football department.

White has been apart of the Lions front office for 19 years, a stretch that includes just two postseason appearances and zero playoff wins.

Wood declined to put a time frame on naming the next GM, but NFL rules prohibit the Lions from hiring someone currently employed by another team until after the season. Wood did say the team was open to considering qualified candidates who are currently unemployed.

That's a shorter list, but is a group highlighted by such names as former Panthers GM Marty Hurney and Ted Sundquist, former Broncos general manager.

Where's the link that says Matt Stafford is building a resume for not being very good for most of the game before the team comes from one point down.

And you wonder why threads go off topic.

Slay can ball. I've said it over and over but nobody believed me. Apparently nobody can play well even if the team loses.

Slay gave up 3 deep balls (one to a really really fast guy and two jump balls. Slay is a very good player.

I doubt they move him around against Philly. Philly doesn't have a go to guy really (even Jordan Matthews).

I will try to post from these media sites daily, or whenever possible. The Freep and Detnews are good at changing their time stamp for the story and the title to it. I have seen this with the Tigers news I post from them. So if I do post the same from them sorry.
Lastly, I don't want to infringe on what anyone posts here who is and has been doing it regularly. If I am, please let me know and I won't post from a site you do in game threads etc. I am just trying to help out and give this thread a little boost for those who want it.
