Most recently, he was the pitching coach at Triple-A Toledo, although it was reported by Lynn Henning of the Detroit News that he was not returning in that capacity in 2016.

Verlander, Gibson to be inducted into the FSL Hall of Fame.
A pair of Tigers first-round draft picks, Justin Verlander (2004) and Kirk Gibson (1978) were selected to the Florida State League Hall of Fame.

Verlander made 13 starts for the Lakeland Flying Tigers in 2005, before jumping to Erie and later Detroit, and winning the 2006 Rookie of the Year.

Gibson hit .240 with eight home runs in 54 games for the Flying Tigers and manager Jim Leyland the year he was drafted, before heading to Double-A Evansville, and later Detroit, in 1979.

The induction will take place on Nov. 10, 2015, at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Clearwater Beach.

Josh Beckett, Kenny Lofton, Kevin Mench and Frank Thomas were the other players selected this season, along with two managers, three executives, a farm director and an umpire.
