Detroit Tigers Minor League Notes

MLB lobbying for another minimum wage exemption.
You know how MLB lobbied for the Save America’s Pasttime Act to exempt minor leaguers from minimum wage laws? Well, that lobbying is spreading to states (I’m sure Florida will be next), where MLB is asking that Arizona approve a minimum wage exemption for spring training players. As player payout decreases at the top-line, I can’t think of anything more despicable than lobbying to make much of the one-month festivities in Arizona, that entertains a great deal of people for near-major league prices, a volunteer event.
Arizona Capitol Times Ben Giles

Positive outcomes w paying minor leaguers more:
•players can focus on field more instead of offseason jobs.
•good players don’t need to quit for financial reasons.
•players can invest in themselves more.

Negative outcome:
10.6 billion dollar industry need to spend a few bucks.
