TMLR?s 2020 Second Team College All Americans.

By virtue of their MLB-worst 47-114 record in 2019, the Detroit Tigers have the first overall pick in the upcoming June draft as well as four of the top 75 selections (picks 38, 63, and 75). Given where Detroit?s front office perceives the team to be in the rebuild cycle?with the exception of Riley Greene all of the Tigers? top prospects are in the upper minors?there?s an excellent chance that at least several of these first four picks will come from the college ranks.
To get TMLR readers as familiar as possible with potential future Tigers, we?ve decided to present our first annual College All Americans. Last week we introduced our First Team All Americans and in this article, we roll out the Second Team in advance of the February 14th college opener.

Although we certainly pay attention to each player?s performance in selecting both squads, we base our picks predominantly on each candidate?s projected upside and big-league potential.

This Detroit Tigers pitching prospect has a 100 mph fastball. And you've probably never heard of him.

Last year, Pinto started out as a closer at High-A Lakeland. He threw 33⅔. innings in 23 games, had 49 strikeouts with 20 walks and a 1.07 WHIP.

He moved to Double-A Erie in early July and was used differently, usually pitching in two- or three-inning stints. He threw 28 innings in 16 games, striking out 38 with 15 walks and had a 1.43 WHIP.
