Detroit Tigers Minor League Notes

Today the Lansing Lugnuts will be honoring one of the greatest baseball teams in Michigan history. We talked to historian and preeminent author @MitchL24
about the legendary black baseball team of the 1890's The Page Fence Giants.

Notes:
The No. 1 draft pick in 2020 started the season at High-A, where it took him a couple of weeks to tap into his immense power (as a reminder, he broke Barry Bonds? freshman home run record at Arizona State). Torkelson shook off the growing pains and posted a 1.009 OPS and 170 wRC+ with West Michigan, earning him a promotion to Double A at the start of last week, where he has so far split his time between first and third base. He has gotten off to a much faster offensive start in Erie: On Sunday, he hit an opposite-field homer over the fence in right-center ? his second jack in his last three games.

Thursday's top prospect performersTigers: Dillon Dingler, C (No. 4), Double-A Erie.
Nobody tell Dingler that June is almost over, because he?s probably not going to be very happy about that as he is absolutely raking this month. The catcher's 2-for-5, two-RBI night included his first multi-triple game as a pro. For as well as he performed with High-A West Michigan (.925 OPS in 32 games), he?s been even better since being called up to Erie on June 15 (.974 OPS in seven games). He has at least one hit in six of seven Double-A games.
