Game 19 Detroit Tigers vs Texas Rangers 1:10 p.m. EST 4/18

7 home runs in fewer than 18 innings for Kenta Maeda. Tied with Kyle Hendricks for the most in baseball.

as a team..if you cannot hit the FB..you will lose 100 games..don't care how good your pitching is..was an issue in year one of Harris..its a MASSIVE ISSUE in year 2..

Riley Greene with a 16.7 LD% and a 54% GB%..its an old old old old story..31% hard contact rate..19.2%BB unsustainableThere's no SLG on the ground..but we've said this for 3 years..and its still..not fixed..

Kerry Carpenter during this homestand heading into this game has hit .364/.417/.773. This is his second triple of the series.

Again tork takes a 1st pitch fastball strike and spends the rest of the at bat playing defensive. It's clear that it's the tiger approach under this coaching and it needs to go. All these walks don't do shit if you can't put the ball in play.

Urshela was lucky as hell the batter didn't run.

Radio broadcast said they changed it again. Called it a tagging error. So maybe the run is unearned again.
Spencer's was changed to a fielders choice no error .
Strange.

Yea man it is very clear there is a direction on how to approach and it's fucking awful.

The team hit "well" the last half of the season last year and it's like we said "nah let's not do that"

Benetti said “It’s been a tough day for both sides, really”. Talk about spinning…

Shame we lost a game we scored 7 runs. Strange series. Rangers are so good. Shoot.

Road record 6-2
Home record 4-7
Hopefully we can get the home record over .500 soon.

Certainly wasn’t a great debut for Leiter.

Hopefully we can maintain that road record sooner; the next 6 games are road games.

Silver linings exist despite Tigers' defensive funk.

Boxscore to a dogshit loss.

Tigers 7 - Rangers 9: Leiter up!
It was no pitchers’ duel in Jack Leiter’s major league debut.

Tigers' embarrassingly inexcusable miscues cost Detroit again vs Rangers.
The Tigers had been playing pretty good defense up until Wednesday. The last two games have not been indicative of that.

'Didn't go our way': Another fielding error comes back to bite Tigers against Rangers.

FIVE FOR FRIDAY.
Totally Tigers

Now that Scott Harris and some of A. J. Hinch’s coaches have a year of experience with the Tigers under their belts, now is the time to start looking at this team to see if any fundamental changes have been made.
Changes that are different than their previous m.o. And yes, there are, including some noticeable ones.
Without further adieu, here are the 5 most prominent and positive changes I am seeing....

Detroit Tigers' A. J. Hinch pulled Spencer Torkelson late in the game for defensive reasons and moved Gio Urshela to 1B. Tork made a costly error game 18 and currently has the team's worst DRS.

Is Tigers' Javier Báez turning the corner after a rough start?
Báez, Kerry Carpenter and Alex Lange stand out in recent Tigers' homestand.

Series Preview: Detroit Tigers hit the road to face Minnesota Twins this weekend.
Coming off a series loss at home to the Texas Rangers, the Tigers next head to Minneapolis for a 3-game set.
BYBTB

Passed up by Tigers in 2023 draft, he’s now starting for defending World Series champs.

"4. DEFENSE – The Tigers have moved all the way to the top, ranking #1 (through Wednesday) for best overall defense. Separately, they are consistently ranking in the top 3 for most defensive categories. They were just around league average last year but ranked near the bottom for many years from 2000 through 2021."

They sure don't feel like a good defensive team. 83 runs against, and only 65 are earned.
