The Colts dump Gosder

At least now they can bring back that radio commercial where he says "whoah whoah" in that super deep Gosder voice.

Stafford did many things well in 2013. He played well. He played outstanding in 2014. Elite in 2011. Solid in 2012. Stafford has never been average or bad.

2009 - he was bad but it was his rookie season
2010 - incomplete due to only playing 3 games
2011 - 3rd in yards, 3rd in TDs, 5th in comp%, 13th in YPA. Top 5 QB that year
2012 - 2nd in yards, 19th in TDs, 18th in comp%; 21st YPA. Average to slightly below
2013 - 3rd in yards, 6th in TDs, 30th in comp%; 11th YPA. Average
2014 - 9th in yards, 14th in TDs; 25th in comp%; 19th in YPA. Average to slightly below

He was bad his rookie season but many QBs are. He was average to slightly below 2 years, average one year and very good one year.

Based on just those numbers, 2013 looks above average (comp% forgivable because he was making plays downfield - above average YPA). It's curious you left off INTs. Stafford ultimately isn't as bad at throwing INTs as some tend to imply (his rate is lower because he throws so many passes each year). In fact he's pretty average there. But still, it's another point toward the average production that I think most of us can see.

He throws a lot. That is what you can say about Stafford. In the Stafford thread I looked at all 22 QBs that had at least 1000 passes over the past three years, he was near the bottom or at the bottom at every single stat when looked at in terms of per attempt. He is the least efficient QB in the game. It's a statistical fact. Can't deny it, only can try to make excuses for it.

I agree.

Game tape. Good in 2013 and outstanding 2014. Comp percentage is a team stat. Lions rely on stafford hence more throws.

Stafford will have elite numbers this year with proper protection and three weapons. Average run game would help too

Average production when youve gone full retard and put all your money into your pass offense is double downing on stupid. 2 +.500 seasons in 15 years is the only stat worth mentioning. Pathetic.

Using your logic, yards & TDs would be a team stat too.

They are. But Stafford is doing his job on the yards and TDS on those plays. And he is doing his job on many incompletes and ints that aren't his fault. The game tape doesn't lie. Good and outstanding in 2013 and 2014. No matter what stat you dig up. I don't care about stats. I care about his play on the game tape.

Stafford can play exactly the same as he did in 2013 and 2014 and have 35 TDs and 12 ints and 5,000 yards this year. Stafford is at the level he needs to be. Always room for improvement for anyone though.

stats lie...your opinion is all that matters.

Got it!

Instead of just talking about game tape. Lets show some:

Against the Bears: Hey look 2nd and 10 in the redzone. Easy throw to bell. Gain at a minimum of 5, more likely more yards. Nah lets throw it to the cluster of people in the back of the endzone and hope all the bears players miss it and it magically lands in the hands of a Lions Player. Great Read #9!

Against Panters: Well we established he doesn't like a wide open Bell. So lets under-throw to Double covered Calvin when defenders are in the trail position. Maybe this is another one of Staffords hope for PI instead of taking the TDs decision (like Fuller in Bears game):

Against Miami: This one can't possibly be on Stafford it is just a great play by Grimes. True if you ignore the fact he simply only looked at Calvin and completly missed the wide open Ross. But it's more fun to blame WRs and pretend they never get open. So we will continue to ignore plays where the wide-open dude was missed.

Those are just pictures...not true game tape!

That Panther pick was lucky by Carolina. Had a guy trailing for no reason. And lucky Calvin tipped it up. Calvin had a shot. Right read, fine throw.

Grimes made a great play. Both Bears picks were his fault but Stafford did enough to win. 20 points and Prater missed a FG. Big second half.

Full season game tape. Not just a handful of plays by the way. 2 plays that prove my point actually with Carolina and Miami pick not his fault. Same with both GB picks, one Saints pick, Arizona pick on 3rd and long and Pats pick under pressure with the game over anyway.

7 picks not his fault. 5 his fault in 600 attempts with bad protection and long down and distance. That is an excellent job by Stafford.

Few more weeks of this repeated garbage and we can finally move on.

You are the ones bringing it up. I'm just correcting you all.

Stafford was good in 2013. Outstanding in 2014. That will never change.

Big year this year again with the stats to finally shine with protection and average run game support.
