V-Mart would've hit close to 50 HR's in this joke of a park this year.

Get StartedRomine .198 against righties.
Avila is such an awful hitter. Tigers need to look for a better offensive C in the offseason. He K's constantly at pitches right down the middle.
Don't understand why he plays above Suarez
Honestly, it doesnt matter. He is one of the best defensive catchers in the game. We have enough offense other places.
Besides, if the team is smart, they'll platoon him with McCann next year. Avila still hits righties very well, and McCann should hit lefties well, and theyre both very good defensive catchers. Plus, less playing time for Avila should mean he stays healthier (hopefully.) It would be ridiculous to get rid of an excellent defensive catcher to get a little bit more offense.
Besides, he's not quite as bad as that. His OBP this year was still better than Davis, Hunter, and Kinsler and his wRC+ of 97 is just slightly below average. He strikes out a lot (more than he should, given his eye) but he walks a lot too and has some power. Avila is fine. You just expect too much from him (and from a catcher period. Good offensive catchers are not the norm. We got spoiled by Pudge and Avila's career year.)
