Seems a bit early to start posting shit regarding this but might as well.

Devils are contemplating trading Hall as it seems more and more unlikely he will sign extension.

Saw we just traded a defenseman to the coyotes for a goalie. Sorry don't have more info.

Saarijarvi for Comrie.

Good trade for Wings.

Saarijarvi never developed into the player he showed promise of in junior.

Seems like it. Where would he fall within our goalie rank I wonder.

BTW, do you know if Ras is hurt he's only played 10 games this season?

Think he was hurt, he is always hurt.

Rasmussen has the durability of Carlo Colaiacovo

Comrie actually coming from Arizona, for some reason he was still playing for Winnipeg in my mind.

Pickard waived and appears to have cleared as its noon and nothing came out yet.

Vegas acquire: Stephenson

Washington acquire: 5th round pick [2021]

Big trade, big gamble by Chayka.

Arizona Acquire:
Taylor Hall
Blake Speers

Speers is there just for a contract move.

New Jersey acquire:
Nick Merkley
Nate Scharr
Kevin Bahl
1st round pick [2020]
3rd round pick*/** [2021]

* Becomes 2nd round pick if Arizona wins 1 playoff round or Hall re-ups with Arizona
** Becomes 1st round pick if Arizona wins 1 playoff round and hall re-ups with Arizona

NJ clearly didn’t want to let Hall walk for nothing. #analysis

He wasn't signing in NJ so they had no choice but to trade him. The Yotes paid a pretty penny for him though. If they don't go anywhere in the playoffs and Hall goes to FA ..

Those prospects all have some decent upside as well.

But it is a move to signal to fanbase that the team's rebuild is finally over and that they want to challange for the cup.

Kovalchuk is now a free agent, mutual termination with LA.

Yes 3 year deal was front loaded with bonuses.

From the 18.75 million contract, he already collected 13.15 million in signing bonuses.
A salary of 0.65 million last season and whatever portion of the 0.7 million his salary was this year.

So about 14 million for a season and a half, money well spent by LA.

My random bet is he goes back to SKA St. Petersburg. While SKA is still on top of standings this year, they lost Gusev (New Jersey) and Datsyuk (Avtomobilist) in the off-season. They missing the big scorers they had in the past.

Or someone in NHL desperate for scoring could get him on a reasonable deal. However, I think Kovie is going to take the biggest money offer.

Buffalo completed 2 trades yesterday that essentially made it a 3 team trade.

Buffalo acquire: Michael Frolik (from Calgary)
Calgary acquire: 4th round pick (2020 originally from SJ via Montreal/Buffalo)
Montreal acquire: Marco Scandella (from Buffalo)

Scandella is a 6/7th D-man
Frolik is having a nightmare of a season with a caphit of 4.3 million which is a bit much for a guy with only 10 points.

This gives Calgary some more wiggle room when it comes to the deadline.
