Definitely can't afford to pay players...wow.

I am honestly not impressed. Too much focus on the Modern architecture and not enough focus on football. Too much wasted space. Sure the clean lines look nice, but the functionality and purpose was so much of an afterthought that the entie facility lacks warmth and a sense of "home".

They pumped a fortune into making it pretty. The Barber Shop is a perfect example of wasting money on appearances instead of the functionality. Why do they even need a Barber Shop there? Its a football facility fergodssake, not a place for Ken to clean up for his date with Barbie.

You really think a recruit is going to say that when he visits? You're out of your mind if you do.

But how much better is it than any other big program, that's the question. We don't really know how Schembechler hall is going to turn out when re-done but I can say that the renovations, and player development center, attached to Crisler are equally as extravagant as the pictures in the link.

Oregon has to recruit against schools in SoCal with palm trees and co-eds in bikinis and it tends to be cloudy, if not rainy, about 300 days per year. The facilities are outrageous and literally ...second to none in CFB. My friend played WR there during the Joey Harrington days and at the beginning of the Knight-donation-based remodeling and upgrades. When I did business in Portland, I met quite a few UO Alumni/Boosters who described just how hard it is to get the kids from outside Oregon to come to Eugene. With the success of the program it has gotten easier and with Chip Kelly gone, it will be interesting ....but if recruits find the facilities at Michigan or in Columbus to be impressive, Oregon is just playing the same game.

And Knight is sort of like Mark Cuban's spoiling his Mavericks players -- NBA players know that the Mavs lockerroom is a far cry different from the ones in Cleveland.

Easy to do when Nike bankrolls your athletic department.

Agreed, but remember that T Boone Pickens funneled a ton of money into Oklahoma State's AD ...and that's Big Oil and when it comes to Michigan, you have Mr. Ross not only donating the B School and having it named for him, but he owns the Dolphins and was involved in the coach search.

Knight and Nike is closer to athletics than is Big Oil ....sort of, anyways.

I'm with you. Pretty, but not impressed. Doesnt feel homey in the least. I dont like the locker room one bit. I think its stupid. The best part is the jacuzzi, but there's no way you could get a chick in there.

I agree, the locker room, and many of the spaces, look like they put IKEA stuff in it. That, along with the random "cool" images that they plastered over everything will look very dated in a pretty short amount of time and they'll have to re-do it again.

What I'd expect of Oregon. Detached, void of personality, the players are mechanisms; an extention of the minds of the coaches.
