Excuse the article but Gardner will not be ready by spring

I don't know if the comment that the QB competition is wide-open is just coachspeak, or there really is a chance Gardner may not start. The comment about our record last year seems like it could mean something, or maybe not.
?I think that?s an unknown. Again, we were 7-6. We?ve got a lot of young guys, we?ve got a lot of competition. Now does Devin have the most experience? Yes, there?s no question.?
on the topic of assistants:
Hoke said he will not be firing any more of his assistants, though he conceded that some still could leave for another job. ? After saying in December that he planned no staff changes, Hoke said he took a broader look at the season after the bowl game and spent ?8-9 days? evaluating and deciding to fire offensive coordinator Al Borges. He said he almost hired new coordinator Doug Nussmeier when he was at Ball State, so they had a relationship that made the hiring process go quicker. He added that the move was all his decision and that U-M athletic director Dave Brandon didn?t even know Nussmeier.
...
Hoke said he was frank with the U-M assistants about their players' lack of development. The staff will discuss some possible position switches for the spring in the coming days.

also:
He said he has noticed no fallout on the recruiting trail from the disappointing season and said he has not had to address the Brendan Gibbons controversy with families. ?It hasn?t been a hiccup,? he said.

I'm just hoping that the spring game this year is more than a glorified practice -- now that we actually have the depth that should allow for a real game to be played.

Gardner vs. Morris -- Green vs. Smith

No Gardner means that's not going to happen.

Damn it! Proof that we should have went to OT against OSU! He DEFINITELY could have played 1-3 more OTs. Definitely!

Why, we have Bellomy back and Wilton Speight enrolled early? Plenty of players to run a spring game. And it really never says Gardner won't be ready by the end of spring ball, only that he's likely going to start out limited in Spring.

The Gardner vs Morris part. Without Gardner that's not going to happen. But regarding having more of a regular game...if it doesn't happen this year with this small a recruiting class, it's probably not going to.

Morris should get the start. We know what we are with Gardner back there....which is we don't know what the **** we are and we could turn the ball over a bunch and score 0 or we could score 60 lol. Im ready for an actual QB to lead this team. not kick returners or WRs to lead us to 7 wins.

Jesus Christ -- you know that Gardner was the only reason we were in most games...right? This is a guy who absolutely obliterated ND and OSU defenses. Nothing against Morris, but you put the right people around Gardner, call the right plays and you've got a very good offense. The problem last year had nothing to do with the production out of our QB's.

It's kind of ridiculous to blame Gardner for shit given the coaching issues on offense.

Based on what I saw last year, I hope Gardner is our QB. I will be disappointed if he's not, though it goes without saying I want the best QB under center regardless.

Gardner was also the reason we were out of most games too.

I thought Gardner did pretty well overall considering how atrocious the UofM O-Line was all year.

More importantly, will fat ass be running around again this season in his shorts, freezing his balls off?

I i'm in Ann Arbor right now, and it's going to get down to single digits tonight and it's snowing.

I don't see much changing in the next month or two.

Stop.

Just.

Stop.

Iowa, msu, Akron, Uconn. ..hes was awful. Psu he was pretty bad. 8 picks and 2 fumbles thru the first 4 games. 2.9 ypc for a running qb? 34 sacks. Led his team to 7 wins...must I go on? He had good games, a couple great games, and a shit ton of shitty games.

Just let them compete
I will trust the best to rise to top

Spring game has been a practice for 10 years
I don't see it changing

Gardner should and will be the starter. I think it's just coach talk trying to fire all of the QB's up and make the O line man up and help their leader.

We had some success as of late getting high recruits to come here....I think you play them asap. Especially if the current guys installed were just average.
