That is for Designated Player.

Most often the Designated Player will function as the designated hitter, BUT as I understand it, in college softball if the pitcher is also a good hitter, a weaker hitter but good fielder can take the fielding position of a better hitter but weaker fielder in the field and not hit.

That's sort of like having the Designated Hitter hitting for a position player rather than the pitcher

Canfield is functioning as the a Designated Hitter today.

Hutch is infuriating as the third-base coach. She makes the most awful decisions I've ever seen the third-base coach make. The pinch runner should've scored easily on two different plays.
