Jim Rome

I don't have a problem with what Harbaugh has done here, but I was asked if there's hypocrisy if Harbaugh tells people to not react to what people say about you. If he said that, then sure, that's hypocrisy.

I don't always have a problem with hypocrisy though.

i havent watched the videos yet and not sure if i want to (or need to) but if Harbaugh went a little too far with a douchey provacateur like Jim Rome, eh... it's mildly troubling, but not a big deal. no one is perfect all the time... sometimes everyone gets stung by a jab. even Muhammad Ali.

remember: sports talk shows = complete ****ing idiots that couldn't hold a janitorial job if they tried talking about unimportant shit to an audience made up of unimportant people (no offense intended to those who post here and waste their time listening to sports talk)

I read the University gave Jim a $2M loan for life insurance. Not sure, but possibly even $4M somehow? Did Rome threaten him?

a life insurance policy, even a huge multi-million dollar one, typically isn't that expensive. It's also common executives & other highly compensated individuals are provided coverage as part of their compensation package.

where did you read the University took out a policy (in response to a threat from Jim Rome? seriously? you think they believe Jim Rome will murder Harbaugh)???

Just bringing a little levity to the DSF Michigan board.

Edit: The Rome bit, that is. The University really did loan at least $2M for insurance policy. Tied, I think, to Jim's salary renegotiation.

oh. usually bringing levity to something involved making a joke others find funny. you just made a weird statement that sounded more like a straightforward comment.

Come on. It's a little funny. It ties two current news blurbs together nicely.

Levity implies funny ...or light hearted.

Post was neither.

Tangent and stupid ...or not levity

This is the story.

Michigan is paying the premium on life insurance policy for Harbaugh. They are not loaning the money to Harbaugh.

I don't see the payout amount. A $2 million annual premium seems pretty high. Maybe the actuarials view Harbaugh as being a high risk.

they report it as a $2MM premium, but it sounds like term life insurance, as the article reports the university gets the premium back if he dies. not sure what happens if the policy is cancelled. its a little light on details. It's also not a big deal at all. if you're important and have a lot of people depending on you, any organization you are a part of will make sure to insure your life in case you die.

I'm am sure every other Big Ten coach has a substantial life insurance policy provided by their employers. they may not be as big as Harbaugh's but UM football makes a lot more money than most, if not all, other Big Ten programs, so it makes sense to insure our coach for more money.

i am just making a joke here. see? ha. ahaha. ha. ha. ahh...

My company has a policy on me and I had to submit to a physical. I get on a lot of planes and its a bit awkward to think about but apparently there's a replacement cost or profit to be made off my kicking the bucket.
