The Official MSU vs ][V][ichigan Game Thread

He's definitely the least explosive back in the group. Although he does have runs of 14 yards or longer in all but one game this year.

Lol ...my little sister graduated from MSU and roots for MICHIGAN (if she even cares) and married a 'buckeye' who played soccer at Toledo, never got his degree and is one of those 'I played soccer so I hate football but wear red shirts to my brother in laws to be a douche'

My wife married into MICHGAN and is now a HUGE fan.

Well one time the non-college grad bandwagon buckeye instigator said, 'Why do you care ...it's not like you even went to Michigan?!'

I thought she was going to kill him and all I could do is bite my tongue at the irony. My wife, a teacher with a degree gettin shit from a college dropout for who she roots for.

And no, they don't come over for games any more

You know, MSU could still make a bowl game. Winning out would be a tall order, so would winning everything but their OSU game, but if they did, there would be a chance. If there aren't enough 6-6 teams, 5-7 teams are invited by APR. So MSU needs to drop no more than 1 game and root against these teams (keep them to fewer than 5 wins):

Duke
Northwestern
Vanderbilt
North Texas
UCF
Illinois
Boston College
Indiana
Utah State

They also want the rest of the teams on this list (as many as possible) to stay under 6 wins

MSU's remaining schedule isn't really what I'd consider "favorable" since they don't have 4 remaining home games all against Rutgers, just one.

they go:
@UI
Rut
OSU
@PennSt

They're also now down to a possibly injured Tyler OConnor at QB, and a backup (Damion Terry) who couldn't hit a 3 yard quick slant against us, so... yeah. They should can their OCs now, and just run LJ Scott, spelling him with Holmes when they have to, and throwing the ball as rarely as they can get away with.

actually they should do that even if Lewerke is available. He appears to be marginally better than OConnor, although comparing the two when Lewerke was the one who got to go in when his team was already down 30-10 and his opponent stopped trying is probably not fair.

They could very well lose out, even to Rutgers, if they expect an easy win.

I would say "if they started playing as well as they played against us" before I reminded myself the score was 30-10 up until there was 7:30 left in the 4th Q. Enough time for an unlikely comeback, for sure, but unlikely comebacks are... unlikely. Especially when your team morale is shot, your coaching staff makes bad decisions, and your QB laughs out loud to his teammates when his backup/replacement gets destroyed.

Does their Furman win count? They may need to win their last four to get to 5 official wins.

I believe you're allowed 1 FCS win towards your bowl record as long as that school gives out a certain amount of football scholarships. Remember reading about it somewhere concerning a different team/different season. Could be wrong.

I heard an announcer state that no wins against FCS count anymore toward bowl eligibility. If they win out, they'll be 5-6 as far as the FBS is concerned. They aren't going to do that and they aren't going to a bowl game.

You always have some pretty good stories about stupid things MSU fans are saying to you... what other stupid stuff have you heard since Saturday? Or have most MSU fans you know been quiet?

Wrong!

Just last Saturday State won The Moral Victory Bowl

No joke: MSU vs. Illinois saturday is being aired on ESPNNews... the lowest rung of the network. I think TV heirarchy goes something like this:

ABC > ESPN > ESPN2 > BTN > ESPNU > local cable access > ESPNNews

instead of MSU-Illinois, BTN is going with Indiana-Rutgers instead, and ESPNU is airing Ole Miss vs. Georgia Southern.

Michigan-Maryland will be on ESPN Saturday at 2:30

Oh I already recounted the most interesting tale, though it wasn't that interesting.

Most of what I am getting is boasting...yeah, you read correctly. They are boasting that they didn't lose by double digits, that they didn't let Michigan cover the spread, that they played Michigan tough. I guess they did play Michigan tough. They played the game of their life and still lost and despite what they want to say or believe the score was not as competitive as it looked at the end. The fact that they closed the 20 point margin down to 9 proves that they are still the dominant figure in the rivalry...crap like that...

Oh yeah and the whole Peppers is a joke, overhyped, and he should not have celebrated breaking Lewerke's leg...

Then, of course, after the entire team graduates and is gone, including Peppers (who i was told isn't that great, but we'll miss him next year), they'll come into AA and kick our asses.
