Greg Frey to coach OT and TE, Jay Harbaugh to RBs

Nice! He was one of the only RR position coaches that actually shined through. Glad to have him back.

I like the Frey hire. Not sure how I feel about Jay coaching RBs.

Eh, the move definitely does add more value to the staff as a whole than bringing in a dedicated RB coach. I'm ok with giving Jay a shot, and if it isn't working out I'm sure Jim will address it.

Not necessarily giving Jay credit, since it's a talented group that had a Senior leader, but the young TE's seemed to perform well this year.

They did, but he has never coached RBs. Totally different position, so hopefully he does well with his first foray into coaching RBs.

The RB on the field is more important than the RB coach anyway.

Wasn't his first year at Michigan his first foray into coaching TE's? I wasn't aware that he had any history with that position prior to joining UM, that's a big part of what I was basing my comment on.

Yeah, I am not seeing any reference to tight end in his bio prior to last year. If he can learn that position on the Fly then I'm confident he can handle running backs as well. If anything running backs should be slightly easier to handle

Agreed. I'm vert happy Frey is on this staff. He was turning out all-american linemen at the football factory of IU!

Our lineman took a beatdown by his guys in 2015. Was very impressed with the Indiana group. They had their way with a lot of folks. Welcome back. Im good with Jay at RB coach, he got his TEs to block well, especially Asiasi. Maybe he can coach these RBs into being good blockers, too. They were very poor in that department this year.

Harbaugh has switched staff around before like at stanford
