1/29/17 @ Breslin Center Wolverines vs. Spartans All Welcome on this Thread

When McGary did play he was a great player for us though. If he had stuck around he would have made a world of difference in my opinion.
Absolutely agree. Sucks he only played 8 games his last year then got ****ed by the NCAA bc he smoked weed.

Donnal is banana man. I gave him that nickname. Muscle definition of a banana.

He's the weakest Michigan player I can remember. Blake "Big Bird" McLimans may be on the same level, but he didn't play as much.

Yep. I thought you meant Donnel. What an utter disappointment. JB even tried to light a fire under him with all of the "you have to earn a 5th year" talk. Then Donnel screwed the pooch and decided to not bust his ass. It's completely obvious this douche did absolutely no work in the offseason. What a complete chump. I'd love it if JB would just cut his ass.

Me too. He shouldn't play one more second at Michigan. He's terrible and is a low effort player.

I am excited to see Teske and Austin Davis develop into the 35th and 36th best big men in the Big 10.

Let's face it. JB is classy as all hell. He is an extremely nice guy and it has bred a team that is soft as Charmin. If JB had any balls, he'd cut a guy or sit a couple of these turds on the end of the bench, but he's a nice guy, so he plays these pieces of excrement...

it's really hard to watch and I really didn't even bother today. It's gotten that bad. I recorded the game and checked the score after, because this team is horrible to watch. I don't know where they dug that Thursday night game out of their ass.

I'm just at a loss right now...

I enjoyed the game against IU, but it was an anomaly. IU is horrid on defense and careless with the ball. Plus they have injury problems. We got hot that night and had a great game. It was awesome, but it was a mirage.

JB is a great person. It sucks to be so critical of him. He dug us out of a wasteland, but we plateaued and are now heading downward.

I want Juwan Howard as our next coach. NBA coaching chops and there's no way he wouldn't be a great recruiter. He's everything you could ever ask for in a Wolverine, but I'm sure we'll stick with just treading water.

Interesting idea. Wasn't it Howard who was brought in first and then basically helped recruit the rest of the Fab Five?

Didn't even realize he was an assistant for the Heat right now

btw, how bad is it to be an MSU fan right now? After a horrible football season, you get this basketball team. Izzo pulled out all the stops, whatever those were, to recruit this team and this is what they get. It was supposed to be their best team in years, but this horribly faulty Michigan squad hung in and really this was a 4 pt game the entire game. MSU should've blown out this handicapped Michigan team, instead they barely won. MSU is supposed to be a dynasty. What the hell happened? Izzo made it known that he was going to do whatever was necessary to make things happen in East Lansing...I don't even know that this means. What wasn't he doing that he all of a sudden did to recruit this best recruiting class that he has had in years? I probably don't want to know, but here it is. They have a completely mediocre record, they are at best the 4th best team in the league, and they barely beat a completely flawed Michigan team at Breslin by effectively 4 points. Yet, their fan base was cheering and having a lot of fun today. If i was an MSU fan, I'd be completely disappointed and scared for the future...

It's still Tom Izzo. They are having an odd year but they are not going anywhere while he's at the helm.

They need to play that Ward kid more. He looks to be a potential stud.

I don't know. There is absolutely no excuse for them to be this bad. Then after this year, they are losing 2 upperclassmen contributors and probably at least 1 or maybe 2 of these freshmen will go pro and they will be breaking in players again next year. I have no idea what happened in E Lansing, but they are not even close to be being contenders in the big 10 and I don't know when they will be again...in both football and basketball...

Yep. Howard was the glue that made the Fab Five happen. He also was never asked to testify in the investigation because he was clean as a whistle.

His story is truly amazing. Came from the hardest streets of Chicago, slept in a drawer as a baby, one of the best UM players ever, graduated UM in three years, and is a NBA champ. Literally everything you could ever ask for as a rep for Michigan. He's phenomenal.

This might be your worst post on this forum. But as long as it makes you feel better who am I to judge.

Well, I'd be in panic mode if I were you, but instead you're acting cool by trying to rip on me, so that's cool...have fun with that...

Thing is, this team is extremely disabled. No excuse for this roster. Irvin and Walton have no place being the centerpiece of any team. They are complimentary players at best, not stars. The rest of the team should be biding their time on the bench learning behind talented upperclassmen, but they are being thrown into the fire before they should be. JB really screwed the pooch.

3 of MSU's freshmen stars are recruits that JB whiffed on...

We really don't have anyone who can replace Walton and Irvin next year either. So we lose them and bring in three freshman and a transfer. Going by JB's track record in recruiting, it's unlikely the freshman will be ready to step in and contribute much right away.

Wilson and Wagner will be our best players again. Rahk third best. After them? Charles Matthews? He's a great athlete and slasher, but his shot was broken at UK. I highly doubt Ibi Watson is making a great leap forward. What's he shooting from three this year? -12%? X has not shown any sign he'll be able to contribute on the offensive end. Teske and Davis? Two more plodding, nonathletic 5s on the roster. Surprise surprise! Duncan can shoot. That's about it.

So next year looks even worse. Unless Wagner and Wilson can play 40 mins per game and average 22 points per game each. Yay. :spin:

Yep. The outlook for this basketball program is not great. I've said it before, we have nothing to look forward to until the juniors on this team are gone and we might not have anything to look forward to after that. We'll have to wait and see how JB does on the recruiting trail. This year is a wash and next year is a wash. This team MIGHT be good in 2 years.

It comes out now that Irvin had the flu yesterday. Hard to imagine Ibi doing worse if he had been thrown out there. I mean, how do you do worse than Irvin did yesterday?

Was MAAR on the court yesterday? I know I saw him, not sure I ever saw him with the ball.

What a complete disappointment. He was looking like someone who could be a massive impact on this team.

Foul trouble. Only played 15 mins because of it. Hit a three and a layup off a drive.

Here is the boxscore. Word of caution...it's ugly

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore?gameId=400915054

In other news, Northwestern beat IU and Purdue lost at Nebraska

MSU improved to 13-9 (5-4 5th in the BIG) and goes to play @Nebraska on Thursday, 2/2/17.

Michigan goes to 14-8 (4-5 6th in the BIG) and comes home to play Ohio St on Sat Feb 4, 2017

Then in what must be the most stupid scheduling quirks ever, Michigan plays MSU again on Tuesday Feb 7, 2017 in AA.

After MSU we head to IU. The last time Michigan won in Bloomington the game was played by candlelight and electricity was still a theory.

Then we play Wisconsin at home. Can JB find a way to lose to the Badgers for the 1000th time?

Wait a second guys .... I'm excited about next year's freshmen that won't contribute until 2020 !!!!!

Don't worry about that. Our current freshman will take a huge leap forward. I mean if X and Ibi quadruple their point output, they'll be averaging 5.6 PPG and 6 PPG. Wooooooooooooooohooooooooooooo!

I doubt they can up their amazing shooting percentages of 32% (Ibi) and 24% (X). That'll probably have to wait until 2019.
