2026 Trade Deadline - Skubal to dodgers - Mize to padres

Verlander is still here as well. A hamstring issue is 4-6 weeks, its been about that.
for a 26 year old athlete. He's 43. At this point, my guess is he makes one token start toward the end of the season for his final goodbye.

Scott Harris said the Tigers once offered Tarik Skubal an extension, to no avail. Scott Boras says that offer was in 2024, for four years and $75M.
That is ****ing hilarious, it’s also a perfect example of harris' constraint that he offered 19M in arbitration to a two time Cy Young winner which cost his team 13M and the largest arbitration award in history. Then today he says he offered Skubal an extension. This story gives you insight into the weird methods of Scott Harris.

LOL...what a joke.

Detroit Tigers POBO Scott Harris complete comments regarding Tarik Skubal during his press conference (7 minutes): "There are some dynamics at play. You guys all know them. Like it was pretty clear pretty early that we were not going to be able to extend Tarik".

Yeah, especially when he offered him 75M for 4 years.

Where does the Tigers organization stand after the trade deadline?
The organization is well stocked with talent, but faith that the front office can finally take them somewhere is waning.
BYBTB

Agreed. Last year was a disaster and the dodgers got Skubal without giving up one of the top 4 in their farm system.
It shows how good their farm system is though. Since Clark is up, Pope is the Tigers #1 prospect left in the minors.

THE DUST SETTLES ON THE TRADE DEADLINE.
Totally Tigers

Another trade deadline has come and gone.
Even until the last minute, it was unclear whether the Detroit Tigers were capable of making another playoff run which impacted the strategy and timing of the team’s Front Office.
The most likely trade candidates were the 8 free agents, 6 of whom would not generate a draft pick for the Tigers after their departure.
They are:
Drew Anderson – (club option for 2027)
Jack Flaherty – Currently on IL with unknown return date.
Kenley Jansen – (club option for 2027) Not having a good year at all.
Casey Mize – His best year yet but 2 stints on IL for the same injury.
Traded to Padres for 2 LHPs.
Jake Rogers – Traded to Baltimore for a AA pitcher.
Tarik Skubal – Traded for 3 MLB-ready/minor league players (OFer and 2 pitchers).
Gleyber Torres – Two IL stints w/same injury and only played in 55 games this year.
Justin Verlander – Remains on IL with no known return date.
Out of 3 viable candidates, all 3 of them have been traded.
Casey Mize netted 2 LHPs, one of which is the Padres #2 prospect and also ranks within MLB’s top 100.
Jake Rogers netted a pitcher while Eduardo Valencia took his place behind the plate.
Tarik Skubal netted 3 players from the best farm system in MLB. It was noted that this was the first deal since at least 2004 (22 years) when a rental player earned his team 2 top 100 prospects.
Taking into account that the Tigers had 3 viable candidates (and injury concerns involving 4 others), how are you feeling about how the Tigers navigated the trade deadline?

How do you feel overall about how the Tigers navigated the trade deadline?

1. Pretty good.

2. Not sure.

3. Somewhat disappointed.

VOTE

I voted disappointed.

Im still not sure. I still disagree that Boros and Skubal didn’t orchestra some of this. Yeah maybe the offer Harris started with was low but if Skubal really wanted to stay with his teammates like he said he would instruct his agent (Boros) to negotiate with Detroit. He didn’t do that at all. So I blame Skubals camp some.

But I also blame our owner. He freaking never says anything at all.
His dad was passionate about the Tigers. Chris is not.

If that was really the offer, it was embarassing

I voted not sure. I do like that they got an OF, since the organization has very few promising ones in the minors. I also like that they got 4 pitchers...another weakness in the system. It all depends on how these guys turn out.

FROM CY TO SIGH.
Totally Tigers

more blame game.

it appears that Skubal and his agent played it perfectly. I like reading her articles, but she is a c*nt
