Big ten preview: 20 things to know

This is a classic trap/overhyped/underperform situation for Iowa ...

Whenever the Hawkeyes are truly expected to do well, they do not and vice versa. Last year was a nice surprise and then the team got horribly exposed but I have a feeling Iowa 2016 may have 3-losses, easy.

Classic Ferentz.

considering how many of Iowa's wins were by a slim margin, how they avoided UM, MSU and OSU during the regular season, and how they got their asses kicked in the Rose Bowl, I'd say 3 losses is a safe bet. they overachieved in 2015. Ferentz has never put together two great seasons in row. only thing he has going for him is the fact that UW's schedule is brutal. they have to play UM, MSU, and OSU to start the Big Ten sched. they could be out of the running early. still... 12-0 won't happen again.

not sure if Nebraska will really turn a corner; Northwestern could be competitive again.

wait... I was wrong about that. Ferentz actually has a good three year stretch, but it was '02-'04. he's never had back-to-back 10 win seasons since then; closest was 9-4 in '08 followed by 11-2 in '09... but he had mediocre seasons for 5 years after that.

they're 2016 slate looks pretty soft. we're easily their toughest opponent and they play us at home. hmmm...

The Michigan-Ohio State rivalry is on the verge of becoming bigger than its been in years this really isn't good writing. It's okay to contract it has in speech, but it should be written out.

The imbalance in the East/West is annoying and although they have an easy schedule, I just know that when there are expectations in Iowa City, the team flops.

Trap game ....Sept 12th in Ames at Iowa State ....watch, the Cyclones will get the upset.

Iowa had a great year last year but I really dont think the team was that good. Their best W may have been NW. They didnt have to play any of the powers in our division. Yes they battled MSU to the very end but at that point Cook was injured and couldnt throw at all. I just dont think they were that good or that they will be that good this year.
