Derrick Walton legacy

Rose was our PG with The Fab 5, so I include him with The PGs. My lifetime:

1. Jalen Rose
2. Trey Burke
3. Rumeal Robinson
4. Derrick Walton
5. Daniel Horton

Loved 80's Michigan bball. Gary Grant and Antione Joubert were special! Different times back then though. Players stayed 4 years and games were much better to. Eric Turner may have been the best ever had he not been on drugs.

Didn't include him cause he wasnt a true point guard

Huh??

Do you have to be short to be a true point guard?

Rose was much more of a point guard, floor general, straw that stirred the drink...whatever you want to call it, than Walton has been for the better part of his career. Part of that is due to the offenses they played in, but Walton has been as much a spot up shooter as a true pg, while Rose directed the vast majority of the offense back in his day.

I only started paying close attention the year before the Fab 5 hit, so I'll have to skip the 80's greats. I'd go with...

Rose
Burke
Horton
Walton
Avery Queen

Did Walton move up any lists with his performance over the 4 games in winning the BTT and the MVP?

I'd at least put him above Horton

He would have been an afterthought if not for the last 15 games or so. I guess I'd have to do some research on the numbers to see if it makes sense keeping Horton above him. Obviously Horton never willed them to much like Walton did, but large chunks of Walton's sophomore and junior seasons were pretty poor.

...didn't remember Horton's fg% being so low. They actually have very similar profiles. I think Walton has a huge leg up in the offensive system that he played in, but I might have to switch my order, especially if we're talking "favorite" and not "best".

I think Walton had a little more help than Horton did, in both supporting players and a better coach.
