the 1931 home run crown (he ties Babe Ruth with 46) and two RBI to add to his record-setting 184 for the season.

2018: Boston's Public Improvement Commission accedes to a demand spearheaded by Red Sox owner John Henry to rename Tom Yawkey Way, the street on which Fenway Park and the team's corporate address is located. Tom Yawkey's reputation has been badly damaged due to his central role in keeping the Red Sox from integrating until every other major league team had done so. The street will now revert to its former name, Jersey Street. The move is not without controversy, as the "Yawkey Foundations", set up by the late owner's estate, have provided millions to civic improvement projects in and around the city.

2019: All eyes are turned on Vladimir Guerrero Jr. who makes his major league debut with the Blue Jays against the Athletics. With his illustrious father, Vladimir Guerrero, watching from the stands, he starts the winning rally in the 9th by leading off the inning with a double off Yusmeiro Petit for his first major league hit, and is then replaced by a pinch-runner. Two outs later, Brandon Drury hits a two-run walk-off homer to give Toronto a 4 - 2 win.

2022: A U.S. District Court judge in New York, NY orders the unsealing of a letter from Commissioner Rob Manfred to the New York Yankees which reveals that the Bronx Bombers were fined $100,000 in 2017 for violating rules on the use of the dugout phone in the two previous seasons, using the video room to decode the opposite team's signs and relay their findings in real time to players on the field. Immediately after sending the letter, Manfred informed all teams that the use of electronics to steal signs was strictly prohibited and would be severely punished, an admonition that the Houston Astros blatantly ignored. The Yankees had tried to keep the embarrassing missive under wraps, after fantasy baseball players suing MLB for allowing sign-stealing to affect the outcome of games had demanded that its contents be released as relevant to the case. While the plaintiffs lost their case, the Yankees appealed the original judge's order that the letter be disclosed, but lost their final appeal of that decision the previous week.

SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

Despite the plethora of injuries that greeted the Tigers even before the season started, this has turned out to be a really good year so far. The team is first in the AL Central and tied with the Yankees as the best team in the American league (through Thursday’s games).
There have been lots of surprises along the way. Starting pitching has been excellent as well as the bullpen. Combined pitching ranks near the top in all of MLB.
Many feel-good stories are out there, too. Players with high expectations but a history of low performance have had resurrections to their careers. Even utility players have turned out to be some of the best fielders and hitters.
There are many positive stories fans are following. But which one do you feel is the best and most interesting story to follow?

Which story do you find to be the best and most interesting to follow?

1. The team's hot start to the season.

2. The resurrection of Casey Mize and Spencer Torkelson.

3. The rise of Baez, Dingler, McKinstry and Sweeney.

4. The overall performance of starting and relief pitching.

DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

What a difference a month makes.
Colt Keith was moved from 2B to 1B during the winter. It was Spencer Torkelson who was assumed to be the odd man out.
But Tork turned into 1 of the team’s best hitters and improved his defense to become a plus defender. He is now once again playing the majority of games at 1B.
Keith has been relegated to the DH role for the most part. This despite a 6 year contract with 3 additional team years.

Jace Jung struggled both at the plate and with the glove during spring training and did not make the Opening Day roster. He only returned to Detroit because Ryan Kreidler became untenable at the plate and Javier Baez had to move to CF. His stats in AAA were not impressive.

Gleyber Torres’ contract is up after this year. Torkelson has 3 more years until his agent, Scott Boras takes him to free agency at the end of 2028.
Will the Tigers move Keith back to 2B for either of these reasons?

But then there is Hao-Yu Lee who is expected to make his debut this year. His primary position is 2B. There are also several other players said to be close to seeing Detroit who can play up the middle.

Keith is unable to play 3B due to an earlier arm injury. Conceivably, only 1B and 2B are his playing options. And one has to wonder why Keith was moved to 1B. Was it because the Tigers believed Torkelson wasn’t capable after last season? Or did they have doubts about Colt’s ability to play 2B?
One has to assume that the Tigers extended Keith for a very good reason.

As for Jung, the Tigers currently have no viable 3B replacements waiting in the wings. The closest replacement would be Matt Vierling, whenever he comes off the IL.
In summary, the Tigers have 2 young players with career potential unknown. One with a long-term (and very reasonable) contract and the other filling a hole that currently has no other viable solutions.

Unless situations change, it’s not unreasonable to expect that 1 of these players will lose his role.
Which player – Jung or Keith – is most likely to be the odd man out after this season is over?
Today’s blog addresses this question and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!
