Tigers celebrate Hinch's milestone win vs. Yankees: 'Really cool feeling'.
Will Vest is generally the ringleader when it comes to these post-game celebrations. He has an uncanny knack of knowing when somebody earned their first big-league save, or win, or got their first big-league knock.
Or, in this case, their 1,000th managerial win.
"I've been waiting on that one," Vest said. "I've been trying to get him in a cart for a couple of years."

Casey Mize gem delivers Tigers victory, A.J Hinch win milestone.
Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch always wants the focus to be on his team.
But that wasn't going to happen on this night at Yankee Stadium. Even though his team played great.
The Tigers beat the New York Yankees, 7-3, on Monday, June 29, and it was significant for Hinch because he became the 68th manager in MLB history to reach 1,000 wins in his career.

Casey Mize pitched seven shutout innings and tied a career high with 10 strikeouts to lead the Detroit Tigers to a 7-3 win over the New York Yankees on Monday night in the Bronx.
The Tigers (36-49) will play the Yankees (48-36) twice more this week.
The Tigers took advantage of two Yankees errors to score seven runs -- five of them unearned -- in the first four innings.

MID-SEASON GRADES: UTILITY AND CATCHER.
Totally Tigers

We are just over the halfway mark of the 2026 MLB season and it’s time to hand out grades. Over the coming week, we’re asking readers to grade individual players as well as management. At the end, we’ll post the final results.
Today, we’re starting off with the utility players and catchers. Only those with enough playing time will be eligible for evaluation. Please grade each player based upon both their offense and defense using primarily their slash lines (BA/OBP/SLG/OPS) and Fielding Run Value. Also compare each player with his previous stats as well as where he sits with the rest of the roster.
To assist you in your evaluation, please refer to each player’s stats at:
https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/DET/2026.shtml (for offense)
Fielding Run Value Leaderboard (for defense)

There are multiple votes to be cast so please make sure that you cast votes for each poll in today’s blog.

Since we got New York to start the week, the most career HRs by a Tiger against the Yankees goes to:
1. Hank Greenberg 53
2. Norm Cash 39
3. Al Kaline 39
4. Charlie Gehringer 33
5. Dick McAuliffe 30

Last night's outing by Casey Mize was unlike any other in franchise history. Across 126 years of Tigers baseball, he's the first pitcher to throw 7+ shutout innings with 10+ strikeouts, while allowing zero walks and no more than one hit.
