Readers weigh in: trading Skubal, the Tigers bullpen, sorting out AJ Hinch's rotation, and possible Triple-A adds.
In this week's readers' roundtable, you wanted also to know what's with call-ups and service-time factors; what Kenny Serwa is doing at Double-A; and why Tigers "development" seems a bit awry.
Tigers Intelligence Report w/Lynn Henning

Bruised, relentless and still raking: Dillon Dingler is doing it all for Tigers.

Catchers with 2+ games having 4+ hits and 2+ HRs in a single season:
Bill Dickey, 1935
Smoky Burgess, 1955
Darrel Porter, 1977
Mike Piazza, 1995
Todd Hundley, 1997
Pudge Rodriguez, 1999
Yasmani Grandal, 2016
Dillon Dingler, 2026
Dingers done it 2 times in a 8 day span.

Dillon Dingler has hit 7 HR since May 21, tying Yordan Alvarez for the most in the MLB over that span.

Most Total bases on a game by a Tigers starting catcher.

Dingler is tied with Corbin Carroll for the 3rd-highest fWAR (3.0) among all MLB position players, behind only Bobby Witt Jr. (3.7) and Yordan Alvarez (3.4).
The closest catcher to Dingler on the AL All-Star ballot is Shea Langeliers, at 2.5 fWAR.

Dillon Dingler’s breakout has him among baseball’s best.
After a solid 2025, Dingler has emerged as a major force in 2026.

Zach McKinstry provides tangible reminder of how he makes Tigers click.
It got lost in the barrage of home runs Tuesday night, but Zach McKinstry’s performance was a welcomed reminder of how dynamic this offense can be when he’s contributing to it.
“We need the good version of him,” manager AJ Hinch said after McKinstry was on base four times with two walks, a single and a triple that helped ignite a three-run sixth inning in the Tigers’ 10-4 win. “We're playing him at short, second, right field, introducing him to center field.
Zach McKinstry provides tangible reminder of how he makes Tigers click.

He’s hit 183/258/336 the last 38 games with a 39% K rate. From 4/22 to 4/26, 5 games he hit 409/458/1.227 with 5 HR. The other 61 games this season he’s hit 192/296/308 with 4 HR. He’s fine? He’s perhaps the worst hitting 1B in baseball.

We had some high winds go through for 15 minutes. Some rain ..
Per normal. Power is out at my house. Every damn time.

Valdez not good tonight. Did that ball really hit that back foot?
Idk. Still no power. I need to sell this house.

Not feeling it, too much zone expansion tonight from couple of guys when really needed a hit or take the walk.

Dumbest staff in baseball
O-2. Right down the middle.

Wtf who is calling these pitches?
He had Bell 0-2. . Twins are good with runners on base.
Why is he throwing it right down the middle .

MINNESOTA does strike out alot. Make him fish..

This staff never learns.

Sommers throws a 4 seam fastball 93 mph right down the middle on a 0-2 pitch to Bell who is projected to have 150 k's this season. Make him chase its still a 4-3 game .

Harris sucks at putting a bullpen together.

Another awful at bat by Vierling. I'd rather see Carpenter try left on left even of it's low probability.

Btw
Still no power.

Verlander roughed up a tad in toledo.
Jansen roughed up too.

Toledo was blasted 12-1.
Malgeri should get a shot. He is a outfielder.

Jones is batting .139 now.
It's crazy that Harris won't replace him ? He can't run, He can't field , and he can't hit lefty's anymore.

Comerica Park center field strikes again.
Vierling Flys out to deep cf. I wonder how many parks that's a homer in ? Buxton probably climbs the wall anyways
Dingler singles 6-4
Greene 95 right down the middle. K's with tying runners on base.
Offense had only 7 hits. Valdez sucked. Pen so so .

Frustrating.
This is why you don't pinch hit for Carpenter.

If summers gets Bell maybe game turns out differently.
0-2 pitch hit just can't happen .

Tigers all wet in post-rain delay loss.
Perhaps this would have been better off cancelled.

Tigers' Framber Valdez stumbles as Twins even series.
Lefty Framber Valdez continues to alternate between solid and spotty in his first season in Detroit. Not exactly the inconsistency the Tigers were looking for when they signed him to a three-year, $115 million contract.
"Execution is the easiest thing to go to," said manager AJ Hinch after Valdez gave up a pair of home runs in five labor-intensive innings Wednesday as the Tigers were beaten by the Minnesota Twins, 6-4, at Comerica Park.

Framber Valdez hasn't been good enough for Tigers, who lose to Twins.
The Detroit Tigers signed left-hander Framber Valdez to a three-year, $115 million contract in February 2026, giving him the largest average annual salary ever for a left-handed pitcher in free agency.
His results haven't been good enough.
The 32-year-old surrendered four runs across five innings in the Tigers' 6-4 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday, June 10, in the second of three games in the series at Comerica Park.
