GAME 73 - Detroit Tigers @ Houston Astros, Tuesday, June 16, 2026 8:10 PM

As a starter- 3.90 era 1.205 whip

Reliever- 6.25 era 1.545 whip

Those are career numbers
I agree with you. I want him to be a starter.
But last they saw him he mowed down Seattle out of the pen in the playoffs .

Tigers 9th

Greene Singles
Tork Fouls out. (Lucky play by 1st baseman ex tiger)
Perez fouls out. (Routine play 1st)
PH- Rogers. ( a .158 hitter for a .168 hitter Lol)
Rogers 0-1, 0-2, 1-2, K’s. (ON A WASTE PITCH)
Low and and a pitch that cant even be fouled off.
Smart.

Story of tigers season. Other team makes miraculous catches.and we can’t field worth shit. Other staffs use the counts to their advantage.
We can’t field worth crap because we always have guys moving around, and our pen flat out stinks.

It’s almost as if AJ is making poor choices just to emphasize the fact that Harris needs to do something.

The error by Kevin really hurt too. Montero made short work of
Altuve. He had Diaz 0-2 and throws a sinker 96 mph according to espn that catches the plate outside in the freaking box.
Next batter safe on Kevin’s error.
Vest come in gets ahead and cant strike guys out.

Boxscore.

Tigers’ sluggish offense and sloppy defense spell disaster in late innings.
Further evidence to always get insurance runs.

Tigers' Valdez drops pitching duel in return to Houston.
The Tigers, after bashing five home runs on Monday, couldn’t score enough to offset a few defensive misplays Tuesday and the Houston Astros evened the series with a 4-2 win.
The Tigers took a 2-1 lead into the eighth inning and rookie Hao-Yu Lee was the impetus for that. He singled in the first Tigers’ run and scored the second after leading off the top of the eighth with a double.

Framber Valdez has homecoming to remember, but Tigers lose to Astros.
Detroit Tigers left-hander Framber Valdez experienced a homecoming to remember as he returned to Houston for the first time since leaving the Astros in the offseason.
He provided six innings of one-run ball.
But the Tigers failed to follow Valdez's guidance in a 4-2 loss to the Astros on Tuesday, June 16, in the second of three games in the series at Daikin Park, with the Astros scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Tigers let late lead slip away as Astros rally to even series.

WATERCOOLER WEDNESDAY.
Totally Tigers

The Detroit Tigers have a rotating infield, especiallly on the left hand side. And now with the latest injury to Gleyber Torres, things will be changing once again.
Zach McKinstry has played 2B the most, followed by Hao-Yu Lee. Kevin McGonigle has seen 3B more with Colt Keith after him.
McGonigle has played SS more than any other position. Zach Short ranks #2 at that position but now he is gone.
In the meantime, Colt Keith is heating up, hitting 4 HRs in less than a week, with 3 of them coming in just 1 game.
With the loss of Torres and Short, how should the Tigers divide the work?
Should they continue to split each position with 2 players each at 2B, 3B and SS?
Or should they have each position manned primarily by just 1 player? Hao-Yu Lee at 2B, Colt Keith at 3B and Kevin McGonigle at SS with Zach McKinstry filling in occasionally at all 3 positions in order to give players a rest?

How should the Tigers assign the infield work going forward?

1. Continue to have 2 players divide the work at 2B, 3B and SS.

2. Move to assign primarily 1 player each per position.

AJ needs to quit playing games and let these young players figure out one position (at least get comfortable). McGongile at SS, Keith at 3B, and Lee can play 2B.

Some of the reasons the Tigers lost last night. No particular order.

Terrible bullpen And >
Pitchers +catchers who never use the count to their advantage when ahead. Just recently Skubal two run Homer off a 0-2 pitch (two a lefty) in a 1-1 game at Cleveland. Lost 3-1. Last night Montero mowed down Altuve and was ahead 0-2 to Diaz. He throws a pitch outside in the box that would have been a strike and good piece of hitting Diaz singles to RF.
Rally started.

Offense that blows.
Harris (Poor roster construction, and won’t get rid of players
Especially hitters. Won’t do any bold trades.

AJ managerial decisions.

Team struggles to make routine plays > just last night (Dingler pass ball, Kevin’s error playing 3rd.) both cost runs.
3rd base coaching decisions .

Im sure im missing something
