Game #80: New York Yankees @ Detroit Tigers, Wednesday June 25th, 6:40 Pm

Freaking Ace has given up 3 homers tonight . I really don’t think we have very smart pitchers.

He dusted Goldschmidt on heat high and a tad up over 100mph
Throws a damn change up right down the middle at 86mph.
So frustrating.
That's what Skubal does, and it is incredibly effective. But if you are rusty and having problems locating your change, it can go south very fast. In the end, it still isn't our real problem, which is the poor at bats, defense, and base running.

I know but he can make a better pitch there. It was so bad.

My god. Tork and Lee, both K badly
Malgeri had. 3-0 count . 3-2 he k’s too.

All three K’d on slow shit down and out of the zone. According to espn all three pitches hit part of the box.

All on splitters.
Malgeri 80 mph
Lee 78 mph
Tork 78 mph

Get Tiger hitters to 2 strikes. Throw slow crap.
We really need new hitting instructors, and
Better pro player scouting.

Cruz has a really good splitter, and we all know that Torkelson isn't good at picking those up. His only chance would be if Cruz hung one. As for Lee and Malgeri, they just don't see pitches like that in the minors.

Hey dumb ass McKinstry
There is a reason you are hitting only .182.
Swing the damn bat.

K’s looking

Tork and Lee have been our entire offense.
Yes sadly we have only 8 hits and they each have helped tonight but this offense stinks. They don’t move runners over well.
They Both. K’d that inning. And it wasn’t close .

Tork is batting .211. Stop defending him so much G.
We all want him to succeed but he is k’ing at a alarming rate
and he does not stack up well to other 1st basemen.
We really need him to find himself.

These were two winnable games we let go.

Yeah I agree with you. Doesn’t make it less frustrating
Skubal hangs his change up.
We lose

They pitch perfect and we can’t stack any hits together

By the Way you all know AJ cant pinch hit for Rogers in the 7th because Dingler is the DH. Brilliant managing .

We get Skubal back and he is 0-2 now since returning right ?
We need to trade him right ?

That depends on the offers. Prospects that get traded usually sputter out. Remember what we got for Verlander in his prime.....Franklin Perez, Daz Cameron, and Jake Rogers.

Skubal frustrated with results after Yanks sting him with long ball.

Boxscore.

1 for 6 RISP.

Homer-happy Yankees best Tigers in series finale.
**** you, Goldschmidt.

Tigers' Skubal strikes out nine but allows three homers in loss to Yankees.
Tarik Skubal, in his third start back after arthroscopic elbow surgery, struck out nine in six innings Wednesday. His four-seam fastball hit 99.6 mph and sat at a season-best 97.5 mph.
With his changeup, he got 12 misses on 19 swings.
He looked like his Cy Young self. Almost.

Tarik Skubal stays in game after injury scare; Tigers fall to Yankees.
Tarik Skubal scared everyone.

The 29-year-old left-hander kept grabbing at his groin in the third inning, prompting a mound visit from assistant athletic trainer Kelly Rhoades and manager A.J. Hinch. He talked with them for a couple of minutes, smiled in reaction to a comment from catcher Jake Rogers, threw one warmup pitch and shared a thumbs-up.
Just like that, Skubal stayed in the game after the injury scare.
Freep

Yankees go deep three times on Tarik Skubal to power past Tigers.
Mlive

Goldschmidt has destroyed lefties in 2026, which is why he was in the leadoff spot. He’s hitting .413 with a 1.321 OPS in 87 plate appearances against southpaws.
Goldschmidt now has four career homers off Skubal, more than any other player except Kansas City’s Salvador Perez.
Since returning from the injured list, Skubal has allowed six home runs in 16⅓ innings, the blemishes on three otherwise strong outings.

SERIOUS CONCERNS AND MEDIOCRE MOVES.
Totally Tigers
