Game #84: Houston Astros @ Detroit Tigers, Sunday June 28th, 2026, 1:40 Pm

AJ is just a terrible manager. All 7 runs were given up by relievers brought back out for another inning. What is this buffoon thinking????

I still remember the game last season where he had a meltdown, and the Tigers scored 5 runs off of him. He had another game like that later in the season. Harris needs to wake up.

I can’t stand Jansen
AJ. Why wasn’t Tork in for Keith in the 7th inning?
In a 3-0 game ?

Sadly Holton gets out of the 7th without Keith’s Error .
I had to go to Best Buy .

Does Tork make that play ?

Triple A Players like Matt (.203) Vierling go opposite field once every 500 aT bats. .

Please don’t tell me that ball would been gone in other parks ?

I missed the game. So all 7 runs came after reliver 2nd inning. now there a tell.

Boxscore. RISP 1 for 10. There is no killer instinct and no leader on this team.

Tigers handle Hunter Brown but the bullpen blows up yet again.
There’s just no way to win consistently without a Bullpen Overhaul.

Tigers bullpen collapses late again in extra-innings loss to Astros.
The crowd at Comerica Park didn't even wait to see the ball land in the left-field stands before getting up and starting to file out late on Sunday afternoon as the Detroit Tigers blew another lead and lost another game to the Houston Astros in two days.
This time, a Detroit lead entering the seventh inning evaporated on two home run swings, aided by a poorly timed error, before the Astros pulled away in the top of the 10th inning with an RBI single for a one-run lead and then a Christian Walker three-run blast off Kenley Jansen.

Tigers bullpen collapses again vs Astros in another gut-wrenching loss.
The Detroit Tigers finished their season-long 10-game homestand with another blown lead from the bullpen in the final innings in the series finale against the Houston Astros at Comerica Park on Sunday, June 28.
The Astros rallied from a three-run deficit with two home runs in the seventh and eighth innings before driving in four runs off Kenley Jansen in the top of the 10th inning.

Tigers blow another lead, end homestand with 10-inning loss.
The Detroit Tigers’ bullpen lost a lead for the second straight day as the Houston Astros rallied for a 7-5 victory in 10 innings Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park.
The Tigers (35-49) lost three of four to the Astros (42-44) and finished their longest homestand of the season with a 5-5 record.
Detroit loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth on three walks by Astros closer Josh Hader, including a nine-pitch battle by pinch-hitter Ben Malgeri. But Hader fought back to strike out Riley Greene, sending the game into extra innings.

14 games under .500 Pizza Boy !

You own a bad hockey team and a bad baseball team.

Pizza-boy has obviously hired 2 of the worst gm's in the business. can he fire himself?

Harris is obviously learning on the job, other gm's don't take "the kid" seriously, and probably laugh their ass off as he spends pizza-boys money on other teams garbage.

Stevie is obviously living off his name/cache in this town. He literally looked and sounded lost with Draper the other day.

Yeah, AJ stubbornness has caused losses, but as is the case with McLellan, he also has to work with subpar talent and/or talent that doesn't perform to their ability.

I put most of the blame on those who put together the roster(player evaluation/development), followed by the players, followed by the manager/coach...it's tough to turn shit into apple butter.

What do low-budget teams do to stay competitive...that our teams cannot?

The lack of talent is not only players, it appears to spread throughout the whole organization(s) in this town.

Minor Leagues
Toledo Mudhens (39-41)
Six game winning streak is over. Bats go silent
Lost 3-1. Pitchers not named Vanasco were good.

The scouts and hitting and fielding coaches are the invisible part of the organization.

The Tigers season is burning down its fans, like hot sun on a dry field. Most posts are about bad management, bad players, bad gm, bad owner, bad player development, trades and free agants that have gone to pie in the sky.
Not saying none of this is not true. But none of this is going to change what is happening. Al Kaline once said the only way to get better is to hire smarter management. Right now I see bad manager moves, really bad GM moves, and poor player playing bad baseball.

How to fix this is really going to take some hard moves.. Sending De Jesus down was a bad move and shows how bad the gm is. Letting not one but two relievers start a second inning is well on aj and how bad he become.
Players that need to be trader or let go
Valdez if they can get something, Flaherty he a fa,Skubal he a fa, Jansen the sooner the better Mize he a fa like to resign him but injuries are a problem. Anderson could go as well. Finnegan could go too.
Colt, his hitting has not been good this season. Green, too many strikeouts Torres I know he hurt. Vierling I know he playing cf, Outman gone, Jones bag of baseballs Torkelson he strikeout too much as well, Carpenter for the right price.
Now I know that's a Hugh list but most are not getting it done. And there a couple more that can go as well, but getting something in return well wishing is possible I guess.
Sooner or later most of this has to be done . Just to get rid of the losing in virement.

The Tigers have now lost 15 games when leading in the 7th inning or later.
No other team has more than 11.

Another bad stat Tigers are 16 games under .500 in away games at 12-28 dead last. 1-6 in x-tra innings games dead last 9-16 in one run games 16 being the worst. There bullpen is trash.
