He never had a problem hitting lefties in the minors. Not letting him and Colt face lefties is one of the all time bad manager moves in my lifetime. Just so turds like Ibanez and Jones can get undeserved at bats.

I was at the game. It's nice to see Mize pitch that well (though the Yankees are in a real slump and missing all of their prime pieces other than Rice), and it's nice to see us catch a few breaks, but one thing to bear in mind; we scored 5 unearned runs. Take away the two sloppy errors, and the passed ball, and we might have ended up with 2 runs going into the eighth, or 3 depending on how you look at that fourth inning (one of those runs would probably have scored without the error). The Tigers offense wasn't overwhelming, just lucky. The only two balls hit very far were still in the park, and to Yankees, who dropped one of them.

We are just over the halfway mark of the 2026 MLB season and it’s time to hand out grades. Over the coming week, we’re asking readers to grade individual players as well as management. At the end, we’ll post the final results.
Today, we’re starting off with the utility players and catchers. Only those with enough playing time will be eligible for evaluation. Please grade each player based upon both their offense and defense using primarily their slash lines (BA/OBP/SLG/OPS) and Fielding Run Value. Also compare each player with his previous stats as well as where he sits with the rest of the roster.
