GAME 91 - Detroit Tigers vs. Athletics, Tuesday, July 7, 2026, 6:40 PM

Tigers even with the a's in the wild card ahead by the win. Big win tonight, gaining ground with this win 9 under, 24-21 at home

Our recently dropped player has brought some Tigers bad luck to the Mets. Seelinger went in for his first MLB appearance in a 9-9 Mets-KC game, and four runs have scored and the bases are loaded, with only one out. Three walks, a double, and an infield single (so far). Edit- now, 7 runs, and up to 40 pitches in relief. That has to be disillusioning for your debut.

pick up game on Cle, Yank, Sea, Oreo's, caught in loss column ox, 6.5 back now, of course A's, LAA didn't need it. Tor leading might be too late for me

If this was May, there’s a pretty decent chance it’s the Tigers making a four-run mistake instead.

'Huge' walk turns the tide in Tigers' triumph over Athletics.
This is what it's supposed to look like for the Tigers.
Nothing overly spectacular, just taking care of business, doing all the little things, all the winning things and securing a 6-2 victory against the Athletics Tuesday in the first of three games at Comerica Park.
More: Detroit Tigers, Game 91: One thing I loved, one thing I didn't
"We knew this whole season, this is the team we have," said Tarik Skubal, who struck out nine in five, labor-intensive innings. "We're a very good baseball team. We do all the little things right. We prepare really well. We got some bad luck and beat ourselves early in the season and it doesn't seem like we're doing that anymore.

Colt Keith blast sets stage in Detroit Tigers comfortable win over A's.
Colt Keith made sure the Detroit Tigers' six-game homestand heading into the MLB All-Star break started with a bang.
A no-doubt, 427-foot first-inning home run to right-center field off the bat of the Tigers' third baseman kicked off the scoring Tuesday, July 7, in a loud way in a 6-2 win over the Athletics in the series opener at Comerica Park.
Keith lumbered a first-pitch cutter over the middle of the plate for a two-run blast, his seventh of the season, and an early lead.

Skubal talks like he believes in this team. Tigers do have the money to sign him. His 32, JV 13 FV 35 in after 28. more enough to sign both him and Mize 6m Should they need to. JB 24 after 27. The money there, the question is the health?

Well, here's the one all of you have been waiting for.

MID-SEASON GRADES: PRESIDENT OF BASEBALL OPERATIONS.
Totally Tigers

We are just over the halfway mark of the 2026 MLB season and we’re continuing to hand out grades this week to the rotation, manager/coaches, PoBO and more. At the end, we’ll post the final results.
Today, we’re continuing the evaluation and focusing on the President of Baseball Operations, Scott Harris.
Please evaluate him primarily based upon this year. You may also consider the past 3 years to a lesser degree. He should be evaluated on the players he inherited, the players he brought up and the players he acquired. He is the primary creator of the roster.
Also consider the purpose of the 2026 season. Is it to continue the “happy accident” of making the playoffs when the team was not expected to be this good so soon? Is Harris’ purpose for the franchise to continue building a solid roster? And how is the presumed lockout after this season impacting the strategy for 2026?
What mid-season grade would you give Scott Harris?

Mize will get somewhere between $18-$25M per year. Skubal will get at least $40M per year. Along with Faldez getting $38M, they don't have enough to sign both. Skubal needs to be traded.

I gave him an F. Nothing he did in the off season helped the team. Most moves hurt the team. And then with the moves during the season, continuing to bring up shitty players and continuing to dumpster dive in the waiver wire. He has sucked!
