Framber Valdez update: Detroit Tigers LHP returns, reliever sent down. Why was Hanifee recalled over keeping Bo Breiske ?
They are kind of the same ish .
I missed what they said about it
Without the #1 pick label, nobody would question him playing first base.Torkelson is an enigma. He has bouts of frustrating at bats, and with risp, and we are told that analytics have him as a terrible fielding first baseman, and yet he hits home runs in bunches, and the eye tests says he is a good fielding first baseman and can scoop low throws from around the infield. I think for most all of us if he could get his average up 40 to 50 points we would be content.
I don't think anybody outside of Skubal could net major league ready players. Maybe mize, but nothing impactful. Skubal to the Dodgers makes the most sense. They have an abundance of high level talent that are blocked by superstars. I read that the Tigers could get Zyhir Hope (Dodgers #3 prospect), Aiden West who is a really young SS prospect (around Dodgers #30), and Emmet Sheehan, who is a back of the rotation pitcher for them.DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.![]()

Totally Tigers
The Detroit Tigers have improved in their play recently and are now 7 games under .500 and 6.5 games back in the AL Central (through Friday’s games). It is still unclear if they will be buyers, sellers or both by the trade deadline in 2 weeks.
They have 6 current players who will become free agents after this season: 3 starting pitchers, 2 position players and 1 reliever. Only 2 of them will have qualifying offers attached if they don’t get traded before the end of the year.
Should the Tigers decide to trade any of them, who should they get in return? MLB-ready player(s) or prospects in the higher levels of the minor league system?
Consider that many expect owners to lockout players on December 1st over a new CBA and they believe it will be a long one. This means that current MLB-level players will be unable to play next year while those in the minors will still have their regular season.
Also think about how any potential prospects received potentially may not be ready for promotion in either late 2027 or 2028.
Who should the Tigers primarily target in their trades?
Today’s blog addresses this question and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!
For this one blog only, you’ve got 6 sentences max to share your thoughts. Of course, we encourage you to respond to other readers and keep the conversations going.
TT will supply the ammunition. One thought-provoking question. Several options provided. One hard choice to be selected. One vote.

Who should the Tigers primarily target in their deadline deals?
1. MLB-ready players
2. Minor league prospects
