Lol we are 346th in RPG out of 351 teams. It won't make any difference if they played in a zone, man to man, or had 12 players on the court.

It can get worse and it most likely would with a 2-3.

Last night was a shocking surprise on the glass. Rutgers is the best offensive rebounding team in the Big 10 and we did a great job keeping them off the glass. It would be nice if we could continue that trend, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Dubbs' stat above is accurate, but it is very misleading. While I do expect them to get hammered on the boards against a team like Purdue, keeping opponents off the glass hasn't been a major issue for this team in reality. I think some of the misconception boils down to players not passing the eye test, and the fact that UM's guards do a large bulk of the defensive rebounding.

But anyway, UM ranks 158th in defensive rebounding %, which puts them in the 55th percentile. Not great, not what we'd prefer, but still better than 6 other Big Ten teams. If we're talking defensive rebounding (which we are at the moment) this is the stat we'd need to focus on since it takes pace out of the equation. This shows how often the defensive team comes up with a rebound on a missed shot.

FWIW, they do rank 275th or the 22nd percentile in offensive rebounding percentage, last in the Big Ten. Unfortunately I can't find any stats on fast break points allowed, which would be the only defense Beilein has for his strategy and his comments the other day.

Their total rebounding percentage is 246th, 30th percentile. So obviously this is not a good rebounding team, but to act like they're pathetic and unable to keep another team off the glass is misguided.

Not really. He's basically a shell of what he used to be. Can't shoot, doesn't play much at all. He's 4/22 from three, 1.8 ppg, 1.3 apg. Sadly, he's now like a 10th, 11th option for them.

If he's going to have a good game, it'll be this one. It is pretty damn cool that he'll be there for Senior night though. I have to imagine that they'll do something special for him.
