Start off with a relatively big one involving the circus which are the Ottawa Senators.

Senators dumped Hoffman a 56 points scorer last season (3rd highest on team).

Ottawa Acquire:
Mikkel Boeder (from SJ)
Julius Bergman (from SJ)
6th round pick 2020 (from SJ)

Florida Acquire:
Mike Hoffman
7th round pick 2018 (from SJ)

San Jose Acquire
Cody Donaghey (from Ott)
5th round pick 2020 (from Ott)
4th round pick 2018 (from FLA)
5th round pick 2018 (from FLA)
2nd round pick 2019 (from FLA)

Boedker has 2 years left 4 mil cap hit, played in SJ in middle 6 role. Potentially could play top 6 in Ottawa.

Hoffman will help alleviate the loss of Marchesault and Smith the previous season. Has a 104 goals the past 4 seasons in Ottawa. Has a 5.178 cap hit for next 2 seasons.

Bergmann still has chance to develop but likely career minor leaguer.
Donaghey is in the ECHL meaning unlikely to ever reach NHL.

Pretty good deal of SJ, pretty disappointing for Ottawa. At least Boedker can still play.

I just read about that. I wonder if Hoffman flew to SJ and then flew to Florida?

I doubt he could be bothered with leaving penthouse or golf course.

Many articles stating Karlsson is a likely trade candidate.

Even Alfredsson mentioned a few weeks ago he hopes Ottawa gets a new owner.

Wow, what a big trade.

Calgary Acquire:
Noah Hanifin (one of the most hyped young D in the NHL)
Elias Lindholm (another young player, was playing top 6 in Carolina)

Carolina Acquire:

Dougie Hamilton (Was playing 21+ minutes a night in Calgary 3rd on team)
Michael Ferland (Had a breakout season with 41 points playing a middle 6 role)
Adam Fox (unsigned defensive prospect playing college hockey, drafted 2016 in 3rd round by Calgary.

Think both Hanifin and Lindholm and RFAs. Carolina probably too cheap to pay what the guys are asking and prefer similar assets under contract. Carolina going in weird directions under new ownership.

Washington Acquire:
2018 2nd round pick

Colorado Acquire:
Martin Grubauer (Washington's backup)
Brooks Orpik

Orpik is going to be bought out.

Saves cap space for Washington and costs them a solid backup. Grubauer has potential to be a starter in the NHL, will join former Caps goalie Varlamov in Colorado.

Pickard was pencilled in for years to be the longterm goalie for the Aves. He was lost to the Knights in the expansion draft. When Knights picked up Subban (Malcolm) from Boston on waivers, Pickard was waived and picked up by Toronto.

Still led the KHL in scoring so.... he's got something left in the tank. Granted he plays on a stacked team but

Year before he was 2nd in points.

Washington didn't qualify Smith-Pelly. To be fair, didn't expect him to be an RFA considering he was boughtout by NJ.

I am sure some idiot manager will give him 3-4 million range deal after his great playoff performance.

Kuhnhackl rejected a 2 year deal from Pittsburgh. Wonder how bad the deal was that a 4th liner defensive specialist would decline an offer from a top team.

Team won't qualify him for cap reasons, will be UFA.

Pittsburgh traded Conor Sheary and Matt Hunwick for a conditional 4th round pick.

Talk about a steal for Buffalo.

Green back with Wings for another 2 seasons.

Tyler Ennis to be bought out by Minnesota.

Doughty - 8 year $88 million extension.

Montreal Acquire:
Joel Armia
Chris Mason - to be bought out
7th round pick 2019
4th round pick 2020

Winnipeg receives Simon Bourque

I don't see another defense-man out there in FA so what was the money for Green?
