Sparty's new motivation

How can you say "narrowly missed out on winning the national title" in the first paragraph? This was the semi-final. They still would have had to win the next game. Butler didn't win the national title.

Also, look back at my quote, I said butler narrowly missed out on a nc

in 2010, MSU lost in the NCAA national semifinal to Butler, MSU was down by one, we dumped the ball down to draymond green. he was hit on the way up, missed the shot, butler got the rebound and was fouled, ended up winning by 2 and the narrowly missed out on wining the national title. after the game, Heyward said that he did foul Green on that last play and got away with it. that game cost us a chance at a 3rd national title.

I lament over that loss for a lot of reasons, one is that we had a chance to win the game and got screwed on a no call, that we played without our best player for the entire game, maybe two bad calls on raymar morgan in the first half. I also think how lucky we were that Kansas lost to Northern Iowa, KU was loaded that year and we'd beat them maybe 2 out of 10 times on a neutral court. we had some bad breaks, but we also got a very good break to get to that point so it's not worth it to dwell on the one bad call or injury. you can't expect everything to go your way, can you?

right, i disregarded the "the"

The crazy thing is that was the entire game, that one play. They didnt make any mistakes of their own or get any breaks throughout those games. They shortened the games down to one play. Bad calls were the only reason they lost.

Sbee, for Michigan fans the one play is the only thing that matters, not that they got outplayed by another team the whole game. They cant admit that they didn't deserve to win.

you two should get a room.

another witty retort while avoiding the subject matter, your specialty

the subject matter... of how stupid your bulletin board material is? get real toolshed, that was established like 100 posts ago.

think what you want about our bulletin board material, it doesn't matter what you thinky. we're always looking for an edge, if this helps us in any way, go for it. just like hoke posting MD quotes, I don't have a problem with that or his countdown clock. they all do the same shit, it just happens that you guys want to mock what we do while doing the same thing.

and the more recent subject matter related to your post was how you guys want to cry about one play when there were so many factors deciding that game. I hear so much about the external factors of a loss and very little about the internal reasons.

Jesus... can't you follow along?

this subject matter was also done with.

we complained about two (2) plays in (2) losses, plays that only the most idiotic spartan fan wouldn't admit were controversial; the other losses weren't a problem. no one blames external factors for those. you're just wrong, and now you're also giving me a headache

Alabama outplayed us last year. MSU outplayed us a few years ago. We are talking about one terrible non-call between winning and losing that game, so, yes, that one play is what matters. Also, when a game comes down to one play it does not qualify as being "outplayed."

when it comes to tight games, they all matter, not just the bad calls.

i'm out, feel free to talk amongst yourselves

I think the overriding problem is that the ratio of Sparty Glee to Wolverine Angst in a situation where State wins is not 1:1 and that has been expressed for the weeks since this new slew of Sparty posters has shown up and belabored the point.

As a Michigan Alum/fan, losing to State is certainly annoying but it's not the end of the world ...wheras one win in four years for State, to Sparties, is worthy of mention in a graduation speech for an entire graduating class of MSU students.

It must be frustrating ....sort of like punching a dude in the chops only to have him smile at you.

I'm over it. It took me half a day or so.

I think the bright spot was listening to ESPN telling the world how the clock keeper stole the win from M and gave it to State. It helped me feel validated that my anger was justified according to the media.

That might not be a quote but it's close.
