Releasing him frees up a spot for an actual mlb hitter. The longer we keep up this Miggy retirement tour just further shows this team doesn't care about winning. He's obviously fine with just showing up and collecting a check(I don't blame him) no matter how bad he looks. We got Zimmerman's terrible contract and the dead money from Prince off the books so just cut him a check after this year and move on. Next year needs to start the signing legit players phase. No more bargain shopping.

Looks like the vesting years are top 10 in MVP prior year. So I guess 64m total for '22 and '23 is what it would cost. Since no option to vest if let go I suspect it would cost 8m per year as a buy out. So maybe 82m would be the number.
