'Twas the night before Harbsmas and all through the Big House
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
Jumpman jerseys were hung in the lockers with care,
In hopes that a victory would soon be there.

The students and alumni nestled snug in their beds,
While "Hail to the Victors" kept playing in their heads.
And Harbaugh in his khakis, and I with a grin,
Had just settled down for a season full of wins.

When out of the tunnel there arose such a clamor,
As our winged helmet titans ran and jumped to the banner.
Straight to the sidelines in a flash of maize and blue,
The fans all cheered, and the band knew what to do.

The sun shining high o'er the green of the field,
Gave hope to the defense, they sure will not yield.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
A dynamic offense, instilling great fear.

With a fiery head coach, in khahis cut slim,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Jim
More rapid than Buckeyes, his players they came,
And he yelled, threw his headset, and called them by name:

Now Darboh! Now Chesson! Now Butt! Lewis! Gary!
Now Smith! Now O'Korn! Now Peppers! Now Wormley!
To the top of the conference! To the top of the polls!
Get a touchdown, a safety, a sack, a field goal!

As the leaves turn to red every Michigan fall,
Comes the timeless tradition of U-M football.
So up to the Big House the faithful amass,
With hopes that all opponents will fail and eat grass.

The Rainbows of Hawaii they will be no match,
Coming from Down Under, they're surely jet lagged.
The UCF Knights may well practice for days,
But we know that their gold will be trumped by our maize.

The Buffs of CU won at our house before,
But it won't happen again thanks to the former #4.
Penn State and Wisconsin open conference play,
But we'll tire them out! On their backs they will lay!

Then off to New Jersey, for our first away test,
Rutgers just cannot hang with the Leaders and Best.
Then come the Illini, the Spartans, the Terps;
We'll bring out our best and expose all their worst.

Then we finish with Hawkeyes, and Hoosiers, and Bucks,
If the maize and blue succeed, perhaps with some luck,
We'll fly on to Indy for the big conference match,
We'll win the Big Ten, and throw a big bash.

Perhaps a playoff berth will be in the cards,
But whatever the outcome, we love this team of ours.
So we gather in the Big House, or crowd around TVs,
As Michigan football brings us such glee.

A wonderful season is one day away,
We can't wait any longer to watch the Wolverines play.
We'll be in Hoboken, with beer in our hands,
To cheer with alumni across this great land.

St. Jim got out Sharpie, to his team gave a screaming,
The season begins! Start the championship dreaming!
And I heard him exclaim, with no sign of sorrow,
"MERRY HARBSMAS TO ALL! WE'LL SEE YOU TOMORROW!"
