USA Today Coaches poll out

They are returning a vast majority of their offense, which lost one game last year by one point to TCU. Their defense is gutted, but so is MSU's offense. It's going to be strength v strength. It will be very intriguing.

Well, MSU is also breaking a first-time QB, so there will be unpredictability on both sides. They are bringing a lot back on the offensive side, so to say they don't have a chance is a bit unfair.

I really don't care about preseason rankings. I think the MSU v Boise game is a battle between 2 teams that are pretty equal. With both teams breaking in new qbs, I think it comes down to MSU playing a night game at home vs Boise.

Boise also lost Doug Martin. Sparty is superior in terms of Size, Strength, a running game and less questions on defense. This is all just my opinion but I just can't see this being a game.

Look at all the talent Boise has lost in the past two years.

Gholston on Sparty does scare me a little he has the ability to cause havoc on defense. They will go as far as he can carry them. If he gets injured at all they are in trouble.

Why would he get injured? You mean like if someone jumped on him, grabbed his facemask, and tried to twist his head off?

Sparty lost half of their starters and only moved down 1 spot since last season.

Yeah, but they'll be better this season and no one in their division is going to challenge them for the division championship.

MICHIGAN at #8 is a more modest ranking than a Carr-era team with comparable experience would probably get. And the pre-season is a total crapshoot/popularity contest anyways so I figure an 8 only means Rich Rod is fully in the mirror.

Um yeah, Michigan would absolutely ****ing smoke Florida St. Those jokers along with Choklahoma have no ****ing business in the top ten.

Yeah, been a while since we've seen a pre-season ranking in the top 10.

So maybe the nightmare really is over.

Lewan made Tom Gholston his bitch last season. He got beat once in about 30 snaps and that led to nothing...Gholston grew frustrated and ended up sucker punching him and trying to hurt Denard with the face mask rip.. As long as we have Lewan I won't worry about him.

Here's every snap Lewan vs Gholston.

Isn't Boise always inferior in size and strength in all of the big games they win?

They've always had a great QB in those big games they win.. Zabranski, Tharpe and Moore were all great college qbs. Who knows though, maybe this unknown kid is just another in the line of great college qbs at Boise.

Don't forget about Ryan Dinwiddie. He started the whole video game type numbers for QBs at Boise.

good observation. compelling video to back it up.

Lewan is very good, esp. since he cut out the dumb mistakes.

i was actually concerned about him prior to last year, because it seemed he had a chip on his shoulder... and if you're the biggest guy on the field and can break most human beings in half, you shouldn't have a chip on your shoulder, you should be confident and play like it.
