IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT THE ARM.

The end might be nigh, but only Verlander should decide for certain.
A hamstring injury has once again stalled Justin Verlander's second start of the 2026 season. Yet cries for him to retire ought to fall on his deaf ears.

not a shock with his injuries this year. It would be funny if he doesn't pitch again this season and gets an additional $13M from the Tigers for pitching in one game!

I agree, but what he did to make a deal to return to the Tigers sounds like he wanted to not only retire as a Tiger, but also go into the HOF with a Tigers cap.
I have watched every Tigers pitcher from the mid 50's to the present, and Verlander is the best Tigers pitcher I have seen pitch, in my opinion.

Him going in as a Tiger doesn't do much for me, but I understand that it does for a lot of fans. I'm sure that him ending his career here will help that decision. It's not like the $13M will make a difference...Tigers management pisses money away on worthless players all of the time...at least JV is a fan favorite!

I don't know KC, I might be a "little" younger than you.
...and though I never got to see either pitch in person....

Lolich in WS '68 will always make him my #1....3 complete games (including the clincher) and a home-run.
McLain 31 W's that year...too bad his later actions in life...well...

I realize Tigers don't make it to the WS without Verlander in '06, '12
...unfortunately he pretty much bombed in both, not to mention the all-star game fubar in '12.

While I'm sure his stats will probably put him among the best pitchers to wear a Tigers uniform... I like to remember the Champions who did it when it counted most.

... after all, we get so few of them in this town.
