Ty Cobb bats against the White Sox at Chicago’s South Side Park in 1908. On this day in 1908, Cobb signed with the Tigers for $4,000 plus an $800 bonus if he hit over .300. He cleared it with a .324 average and won his second American League batting title that season, at age 21.
