My way too early yardage prediction thread

Wayne Fontes the last decent head coach and that ain't saying much. Eric Kramer > Stafford

Would you take Stafford over Manning?
Oh no way. Stafford has way more talent than Manning. If it wasn't for blizzards, rain, injuries, and bad luck, he would have beaten him in the Super Bowl.

So you have them winning 7-8 games, thinks Stafford needs to improve, and the secondary is a weak link..yet you don't get all the negatively? One sure cure..don't read this thread anymore.

You guys are negative about everything!! lol. I just don't like the schedule this year and I only see around 7-8 wins. Doesn't mean they can't win more, it's just my opinion...anything can happen.
You idiots have no faith in anything. Half of you nitwits have already cashed in the season. That's what I don't get.

Well first, you don't need to call us all nitwits and idiots, chill out a little man. Second, we don't have faith in anything because this organization has given us nothing to believe in. Even when they went to the playoffs recently, they didn't beat a single team that ended up with a winning record. I'm past the point of all this pre-season, draft faith. Just prove it.

Nothing to believe in? That's funny...

What's funny about that? What has the organization provided you as a fan other than a broken heart, constantly choking, horrible draft picks, and total incompetence as a franchise? 1 playoff win in 50 years has to be one of the most disgusting stats you can dig up in professional sports. At least as a Michigan Wolverine fan they have some past success I can look to and remember.

Like I said, I used to share that mindset you have. I'd get excited about draft picks, new coaching regimes, schemes, all that crap. There's no reason to get all fired up and passionate until they are able to show something on the field, which they have yet to do.

I don't know why fans can only be one way: blindly loyal. I'm always going to root for them to win. There's a huge difference between being negative and wanting them to fail. I'm neutral to them emotionally, there's no investment until they show they show they can act like a real football team. This last collapse was worse than 0-16. Not winning the worst division in football by losing 6 of your last 7 is as bad as it gets.

It's not blind loyalty and faith. It's informed loyalty and faith based on the talent level and coaching for this current 2014 team. You have blind negativity based on past seasons that have nothing to do with this season.

My views aren't quite as bad as you make them sound..my big issue is with Stafford. I wish we had a new QB. I don't have "faith" in him.

Well you can't assess QBs properly. That's your issue.

The hell is informed loyalty? Did you just make that phrase up?

Fine, whatever, don't care, call it whatever you want. Just prove it. Until they do it, I don't get excited about draft picks, coaching changes, none of it. I used to. Weee!!!! Marinelli, he's going to turn this defense into a juggernaut! Yayyy Mooch he'll make that offense hum! Morhenweig, "the bar is high." New weapons, Roy Williams, Mike Williams, Kevin Jones, Javhid Best, Harrington.

Seen it all. Used to get excited about EVERY move they made, and every draft pick. I bought into everything that came out of their mouths at press conferences because I was naive. I spewed the same excuses that you do to justify losses. "If only they would have done this, or the ball wasn't tipped that way..."

You'll get there. It's just going to take another decade of failure until you understand how this organization functions (doesn't function). Until then, show me. Prove it on the field, enough talk.

I back up everything I say with great facts and detail. You go on about the Millen era like it has any relevance. This team is extremely talented is a fact. Expectations should be high based on that. But keep the bar low if you want, I know they are playoff bound.

Thank you, I will do that. And if they make the playoffs, I'll be pleasantly surprised. If they don't, I won't shed a tear because it is status quo for them.

Tons of teams are extremely talented. Deal with it. The Lions are no more special than a majority of teams.

How is unlucky a fact? Before the season started you said we can't be that unlucky (based on '12)..12 wins. Yet, they were "unlucky" again. And only won 7. Eventually you'll be right ..but that doesn't mean you know what you're talking about. Just more wild guesses..and how is a new staff will be better based on fact..I'd like to know that one..

Yeah I don't get that either. He keeps saying the team will be better with this staff. Personally, I still don't like the hire. Caldwell, other than one very successful year with Manning at the helm, has been an unmitigated disaster overall as a head coach college/pro. He was Plan B after Lions were spurned by Wisenhunt. The hire was so mehhhhh when it was announced.
