Detroit Lions trade Quandre Diggs to Seahawks for fifth-round pick

Gee, did we just trade Ed Reed or something? Lol

Trading a starting safety after the worst defensive showing in recent memory is pretty weird shit, you gotta admit. He might not be Ed Reed but we're definitely worse without him.

And for those saying that we might be making room for someone else, this actually costs us cap space. If there wasn't a locker room incident, this move makes zero sense.

Found this.....it does shed a little light on things. However, given our defensive scheme and lack of a pass rush.....it?s hard to fault Diggs for ?slipping? in production.

The Lions surprised many by dealing starting safety Quandre Diggs to the Seahawks, doing so despite Diggs being signed through 2021. Lions brass viewed Diggs? play as having fallen off, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press (Twitter link), and called multiple teams about moving him. The Lions landed a 2020 fifth-round pick for Diggs, who is now a Seahawk. The play of young safeties Tracy Walker and Will Harris helped induce the Lions to pull the trigger, Birkett adds. Walker and Harris grade as top-40 safeties, per PFF, which has Diggs slotted outside the top 60. Diggs is only 26, however. This trade gives the Seahawks access to a key part of his prime.

I dont think were any worse without him. Harris and Walker are fine. Diggs was fine....hasnt made a single play all year. The move is to give the younger guys more PT...thats all...and you get a 5th out of it. not a good move...not a bad move....but i have no idea why people would be upset about it. Until we get a pass rush we could have Deon Sanders and Ed Reed and theyd still suck. Quinn fucked up all off season when he thought he didnt need help at OLB/Edge. Its done...the team will be crap all season because of that decision. Who the fuck cares if Diggs is gone...hes not going to help shit.

I'm calming down a bit , we did Draft Harris in the 3rd round last year for hopefully a reason . Tracey Walker blows tho , at least he did against Minny . I just hate getting dick back for a starter who is beloved by fans and teammates alike . If we can use the saved money on help then ok i'm down with it

youll feel better when we flip that 5th for Kenyon Drake. Give it 24-48 hrs :D

I really liked Diggs. But then the defense isn’t anything special so far this year .
I hope they flip this into something.

Nope, we traded a guy who was a Pro Bowl alternate last year. Not sure if you've noticed, but we don't exactly have a surplus of those guys just sitting around.

Diggs has been hurt and has been missing way too many tackles this year... Will Harris has graded better, and it looks like they want to give him more time and see what he can do with this move.... Hopefully, like Hughes said, we land Drake here for a 4-5th rounder here soon...

Our pass rush has won on 24% of plays which is dead last in the NFL.... 2nd worst is Miami at 31%... This is why our defense is trash.

Not that weird actually. Will Harris....remember him?? The Safety they drafted this year in the 3rd round?? Ya...him. Diggs was ranked liked 67th best starting Safety in football. You know what that means??? He's not even starting material. I liked him tho. He brought some energy but whatever. Play the kid.....fuck it lol.

Pro Bowl alternate???? Lmfao!!!! Jesus Christ!! This kid should be getting #1 money!!! Get Goodell on the phone!! We just got hosed by Seattle lol.

lol...pro bowl alternate. Hell, even Matt Stafford was a pro bowl alternate once in his career.

Of course, he did get #1 money ;)

Yep, I get it. I'm fine with playing youth. Just seems like pretty good depth to toss away for a 5th.

But hey, season is pretty much toast at this point so if you can get draft stock for a backup, go nuts.

With KJ on IR, Elbow closing in on a half season of bupkis, Snacks regressing, Flowers disappointing, and their chances of landing a WC spot being next to nil, Diggs being traded won't matter very much, unless his replacement gets injured.

I think we'll manage with Wilson and Harris, but I still want another trade to come from this. Use that pick and another one to get a pass rusher here.

Just read a rumor that would send Amendola to the Pats for Michael Bennet

How many 280 DE that should be DT's can we possibly have.

Another slow footed "edge" rusher that hasn't been effective.

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!

Also, Amendola has played well this year, when healthy. If we give Hall a shot I'm ok with it.

This offense needs more speed.
